Project Slammed 67 longbed

Hello all! I have been a member here for a few months now and I would like to first of all thank you for this site, it has become an extremely valuable resource in building my truck!

This is my first vehicle and my first build. I am 16 years old and I got the truck about a year ago. The truck was a very straight, mostly rust free farm truck with a flatbed hay boom on the back. I picked it up for free. I didn’t have a motor, trans, bed, or passenger fender + inner fender.

Since getting the truck I have replaced the fenders, courtesy of early classics, replaced the front trim and bumper, gotten a bed (again early classics) and rebuilt the entire drive train. I have also bagged th truuck all the way around but am still waiting on valves and copressors, it is sitting on the axles and bump stops. The motor I originally put in it was a rebuilt corvette 327 (bored 30 over) with a forged crank, 10:1 pistons, 202 gasser heads (after a three angle valve job) elelbrock lifters and an rv style cam, (don’t remember the specs on it) elelbrock aluminum intake, edelbrock elec choke carb. The clutch is stock corvette and it has a granny four speed at the moment. The rear end is rebuilt with 3.73 gears and five lug axles. The front end is rebuilt with 72 disc brakes and stock spindles (also all new ball joints, hem joints, ECT.)

Unfortunately the first motor threw a rod because im an idiot and totally forgot to torque the rods So I had an old 350 machined and built it with the same parts-$800 later

So this is where I stand now. I have started the bodywork by filling the holes and doing other mods such as shaving drip rail, cab seam, ect... I plan on putting on my new doors with power windows and shaved handles and premiering it soon, however this my not happen because im on a high school budget...

My ultimate plans for the truck are to build a new frame and get it to lay out. I am also seriously in the market for a 12v Cummins diesel because gas is killing be and we make biodiesel for a buck a gallon anyways. So if anyone knows where one is, let me know! -end rant- -sorry

Ghetto camo!

She's got a great rear end!

Other rear...

Cool factory buckets with center armrest/ jumpseat (for sale at the right price)

Got a new door...

Need to fill that...

Did fill that!

And the only nice part on the truck!

Re: Project Slammed 67 longbed

actually, i have a question for you...

i've noticed that many other bagged trucks have lots of toe out (not sure that's the right term) in the front wheels when aired out, yet my truck has little to no change in the angle of the tires aired out compared to aired up. any ideas on why that is??

trust me, i'm happy my setup is the way it is, i'm just curious what causes it on other trucks, but not mine.

Re: Project Slammed 67 longbed

Do you have drop spindles? Maybe that could have something to do with it because mine are stock? Also i removed the lower bumpstops and brecketry, so when aired out, my truck sits on the bags (i know some will tell me that this isnt good, but i will fix it soon...)

Re: Project Slammed 67 longbed

I got home from school at did some work... (seven hours) please tell me what cha all think, this is my first body work ever and i want to know if im doing it right.

My work space

Filled gas doors (the previous owner thaught for some reason that it would be cool to have to more gas tanks on either side of his bed, so he cut some monsterous holes for me to have to fill...)

Another marker light hole filled, a little bit better than the last one

Filled stake pockets too!

I decided to just go ahead and shave my drip rails and do the cab seam i also included a preview of what im going to do to the doors...

Re: Project Slammed 67 longbed

I can only afford four valves at the moment. These are airconditioning valves that i got all shiped to my door for $143 (ebay) They are half inch because thats what was cheapest. My dads truck runs 3/8 valves and they run great too.

(its fb at the time btw)

Heres my dads rig, its a 1947 DIVCO that has been completly rebuilt and turned into a catering truck for A&W resturaunts

Re: Project Slammed 67 longbed

i feel like a root beer float... suppose your dad will stop by?

badass truck.

i hear ya on the valves being expensive. i think i put more $$ into valves and brass fittings than anything else. i have a feeling that when you get them installed, you're going to want to look into fill and dump controllers.

unless of course the goal is to make your truck jump

HaHa, No thank you! I may be weird by having air bags and wanting them to be slow, but i like my frame to be straight like it is now...

Re: Project Slammed 67 longbed

Well Ive been a little slow on working lately but I did manage to get a little bit done!

I finished shaving the front drip rail

heres the completed look, i think I'm going to cut it apart again and mold the top into the wind shield to make it flow a little better

I came out of class last week to find this wonderful surprise!

So i got to take apart the front end to try and bang the dent out from the inside, it didn't work...

Anyways Im thinking of doing a frame off since Im off all summer... we will see how that goes
