Original VIN plate rivets

Where do I get some of the original rivets that looked like a small flower?

Re: Original VIN plate rivets

When I was looking a couple years ago trimtags.com still had them. They had two styles, one was an actual rivet, the other wa a "fake" glue-in rivet.

Re: Original VIN plate rivets

You need to call them. They weren't on the website when I looked years ago. Give them a call, they will set you up.

Re: Original VIN plate rivets

A board member used to sell them, you can do a search on the parts board. I am pretty sure that member is no longer active here, although with some searching you may be able to find some clues that will help in your search.

These links might help you. The one thread actually has an email address for someone who had rivets at $25 a pair.

Re: Original VIN plate rivets

If you were really careful and took your time you could drill out the originals. Use a small pun to knock out whats left of the inside and then work the rivet out using small flat screw driver and patience....lol.... I've been thinkin' about this one for awhile. I need some too.

Just went out & looked at mine. Pop rivets & dremmel tool maybe? I'd try to make them, before paying $50.00 for 4 rivets.

Re: Original VIN plate rivets

I took a poprivet and a dremel and made mine. they came out well enough to pass for the real thing. Use the old one as a pattern and take your time

Re: Original VIN plate rivets

Call Trim Tags @ 847-478-8247.
I just bought a set a week ago for a Camaro. They don't list them on their site. $25 a pair. Some people will probably whine and call you a criminal. Call Trim Tags, order your rivits, install the tag, and don't worry about the whiners.

I see his price includes 2 now. His price used to be for one rivet.

Cool Re: Original VIN plate rivets

If you have a very small cutoff tool you can reproduce them using a larger headed stainless rivet and slowly cutting the edges into the rosette pattern. I have made them and they came out nice.
