I'm not a 100% on this but i believe that the 3.73's and 3.08 use a different series (i forget what number it is), Everything from 3.73's and up fits in the same carrier but I think that 3.42's are the highest you can use in the 3.08 carrier.

Can someone back me up on this?

Yup, thats correct info......the 3.73s & lower are on a 4 series carrier. The 3.08 - 3.42 are on a 3 series carrier......

And less than 3.07 are even a third carrier. Car 12 bolts only use two carriers to cover 2.56 up to 3.90 and then from 4.10 up.
