Re: My 65 Pickemup project

Wow, that's creative! I wanted to do something similar with the e-brake from my truck. It had a tranny mounted e-brake with a lever through the floor.

Re: My 65 Pickemup project

All the way down for park, ratchets up into gear. Drive is only a couple inches from it's down position. I didn't even have to drill any holes, used the original holes for the ebrake cable. just a simple bracket for the cable housing.

Re: My 65 Pickemup project

Pretty close, just need to wire it and break in the engine. The accuair needs to run its set up but I don't think that takes long.
Looks like an AZ trip might be in order.

Re: My 65 Pickemup project

Correct, I have pinion angle where I would like ride height to be. Until I drive it and determine where it steers and rides best I won't nail down a premanent ride height and set pinion angle to suit. I would like ride height to have rockers about 2.5 inches from the ground but we will see I guess. The rear shaft ended up being pretty short the way the driveshaft shop put the slip joint together so I'm hoping it doesn't give me any issues. I'll get some angles and measurements from my set up soon.

Delmo,
Any updated pics of the truck since you finished it? Do you have any pics of the driveshaft?

Re: My 65 Pickemup project

Here is the pic of the driveshaft you wanted, hope this helps. Also an update.

Cut 2 5/8 out of the wheel wells and built a structure to put some wood back in. Broke in the engine and bled the brakes. Wired up some cheapy gauges and got the ligts workin. This thing is almost ready to drive.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
