Smile My 1979 Chevrolet K5 Blazer build

Okay so I have a 1979 Chevrolet K5 Blazer as title suggest when I was younger it is the first Square that I ever laid my eyes on (love at first site). Before I got it, it belonged to rancher that bought it new off the showroom floor it was originally two-tone White w/ colonial yellow shortly after I saw it for the first time it was painted white and when the rancher bought a 02 dually he parked this and very shortly after that my grandpa who worked for the man for around 20yrs. got the blazer to make run and sell for the man when I herd he was going to sell it I asked how much Immediately he gave me truck in exchange for helping him on the ranch and as soon as my grandpa and me got it running he let me drive it around the ranch had fun for a 11 year old in it with my grandpas supervision paid it off and continued driving it on the ranch. finally so about a year ago I tore down to rebuild the motor and cosmetic things to the body and it hasn't really gotten the attention I originally planned (school, etc, etc) but it is still moving along will post updates as they come. this is pics of before it was torn down it know primer black on the lower half cant seem to find a bigger photo of exterior on my computer just a cellphone pic transferred to computer if someone could re size greatly appreciated

Re: My 1979 Chevrolet K5 Blazer build

Thanks as I told russgt in a different thread I'll try to get some more resent photos as soon as possible I tore it down because the rear main seal was leaking it had a few miles so now I'm rebuilding the whole engine and that has given me the chance to do some rust repair on the front clip glad that's the only rust

Re: My 1979 Chevrolet K5 Blazer build

OK so the drive train as in my signature a small block 400 stock(in process of being rebuilt), bolted behind that is a TH350 that park doesn't catch part of the time (found out when I woke up one morning and found it sitting part way in ditch on frame. Thank you no major damage at least the emergency brake is really good) would like to convert to SM465, NP203 full-time transfer case (part-time one day or NP205 behind SM465) 3.73 gears and POSI served most of its years as a truck on a ranch i consider it a truck it will be used as a truck should be

Ouch, that could have been bad! I am partial to the 465/205 myself, but I like shifting the truck tranny.

Re: My 1979 Chevrolet K5 Blazer build

Only damage was a small dent in the bottom of one of the quarter panels amazingly actually drove out without any issues

Re: My 1979 Chevrolet K5 Blazer build

I had some doors that had the mirrors in pics but forgot to mention it earlier took them back off liked towing mirrors grandpa always towed trailers so I got used to towing mirrors it was painted that is why you don't see the rust also in the first pic of it you can see it has bigger tires also they were put on after it was painted wanted to see what it would look like with a good chrome bumper and took the one off of my 76 but then decided offroad bumper

What size tires are those? I like that stance and would love to do the same for the 84 I will be working on in the new year.

Re: My 1979 Chevrolet K5 Blazer build

They are 33-12.50r15s on 15"x10" rims on what I believe to be stock height suspension or maybe 1" lift
