I fit the exhaust in place in about 3 hours. The tricky part is the combination of roll on the 90 deg. elbow coming off of the manifold. The 90 is rolled away from the block and starter but also rolled down at an angle to match the contour of the frame. Then I had to square everything back up with a miter right just past the linkage on the transmission. The cross pipe was a pain because when I built it I thought I had enough clearance for the drive shaft but needed to be a bit lower due to the articulation when you play with the air ride.
The starter is stock. I tried a mini first and it would not fit due to the mounting block.
Thanks for the comments!

Thanks so much! I will try to get some more when I get it back. I sent it over to a buddy's house to wire everything. I'm working 70+ hours and don't have much free time right now.

Re: 2.5" rams horn exhaust manifolds

I mounted the 2.5's on the truck with my V8 in the stock possition and honestly I didnt see where there should be any trouble running the pipe at all!!! . I dont have a pipe bender but with some stock bends I could have cut out and fabed up the bends and welded them together. I loaded the truck on the trailer and took it to my muffler shop who was doing the run for me and told him that all the talk was that it was "tough" to make the bends. He looked under the hood, shrugged his shoulders and said leave it with me. I ended up with a great job and an extra set of 2.5 straight dump pre bent starter pipes and flanges for the next time I need to use 2.5 vette manifolds. He said he had to make one extra cut and weld to put it all together.

So......yes...2.5 vette manifolds work with the V8 in the stock possition...MYTH BUSTED!

Yes it can be done. The muffler guy with the right attitude, and skill
can and will do it.

Re: 2.5" rams horn exhaust manifolds

Does that tight turn and compression of the pipe mitigate the benefit of the 2" pipes?
