New and improved BowTie hood emblem

Hey Guys, I got tired of repainting the Bowtie emblem on my 60 hood every so often and I came up with this sweet look. I work for the City (can't say where?) and my buddy from the Streets Dept. hooked me up with a sheet of some (thick) red reflective stop sign decal material. Cleaned the center emblem, traced a pattern, and cut in stick the decal in the center of the bowtie. Once the decal stuck, it ain't coming off. Sorry for the posted dirty truck pics.. Tell me what you guys think...

That looks good

I wonder if the compiscuity tape used on semi trailers would be wide enough?

Reflective red on the front of any New Jersey vehicle in illegal. (So you can always tell the front from the back). Just in case anyone is thinking of doing this, you might want to check your local laws or pick another color. Amber is always preferred.

Re: New and improved BowTie hood emblem

I did the same for the strip under the apache 20 on my hood and on the bowtie that is stamped into the sill plates and custom cab trim about 7 years ago. The tape that I used has a uniform even apearance rather than the pattern that yours has. Looks good though!

Re: New and improved BowTie hood emblem

Red reflective material on the front of any vehicle is not legal by Federal standards. But, there is not enough material there to get excited about and on a vintage vehicle, nobody cares. Looks nice !
Years ago I used red reflective tape in the bow ties of my 64's tail lights. When the truck sat at work, the sun would hit it just right and people would tell me my lights were still on.
