Re: 1957 deluxe heater

I'm not sure about the Task Force Deluxe heaters but on the AD trucks the Deluxe heater had fresh air coming in from outside while the plain heater was a box bolted to the firewall that recirculated the air inside the cab time and again.

Re: 1957 deluxe heater

Here's a deluxe heater in a '57 GMC, its a fresh air heater and the core is a flat style.

In the pic from the drivers side you can just make out the standard heater, its a non fresh air style and has a round heater core. Its in a '56 Chevy.

If you have trouble finding one, I have an extra one I could part with.

Re: 1957 deluxe heater

Hey 56ChevTruck,

It looks like you've done a great job at a full restoration of a Deluxe Heater, something I'm about to embark upon. Any advice, cautions or general tribal knowledge you acquired in the process would be most appreciated. Any lead on a source for core rebuild? Your heater looks great! How does it work on a bitter cold day?

Thanks,
Bill
