South FL 67' Build Thread

Hello to all, My name is Armando (friends call me Mandy for short) Last week I finally picked up my first C10 from a real cool guy out in Bement, IL. Thank You Shawn.
This thread here has a little of the story behind the process of actually getting the truck in my possession.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=533163

With the help of members Al and Raul, we searched for quite a while looking for the right truck.. Originally I was looking for a truck to do a full frame off resto, but shortly realized I wasnt going to have the time, nor the space for such a project at the time. So I went with a truck I can drive in the meantime, and customize as I go along.

The truck who still remains nameless is a

1967 SWB C10 Small Rear Window Fleetside Farm Truck

I plan to keep as much of the original 1967 stuff and look as I possibly can while adding a few resto mods like Air Ride Suspension, Big Brakes, A/C, PS and a few other goodies to come.
For the time being.. I just want to get her running nice and solid. Tighten up any loose ends and just enjoy the ride for now.. Im looking forward to this build AND especially to the journey along the way. Being my first C10, Im sure I will have lots of questions and want to THANK YOU ALL in advance for all your help and support thru this great website/family.

Engine: 350 SB
Trans: Turbo 350
Rear: 12 Bolt Main, 373 Auburn Posi
No A/C
No PS
Wood Bed

Here are some of the things that were just done

BellTech Nitro Drop Shocks
Front 3" Drop Rear 5" Drop (Not Sure of Name Brand, The springs are green)
ProThane Polyurethane Bushings Throughout
(PanHard Bar,Cab,Trailing Arms,Control Arms)
Front Disk Brake Conversion
FlowTech Headers
Holley 650 Carb
Edelbrock Intake Manifold
E Fan controlled by Thermostat
New Exhaust w/ Flowmaster 40 Series Mufflers
New Radiator
New Fuel Tank
New Dash Pad
New Dome Light
New Wing Vent Locks
New Door Handles
New Tag Light
New Weather Stripping, Window Seals and Felts

And Now for what you really care about....

That's a clean ol truck! With a 3.73, first thing I'd do is a 7004 so you can drive it! Looks good though, I like the 10" steelies!

Re: South FL 67' Build Thread

Besides going around the block a few times and the short drive getting her home, I just got back from my first real drive.. I took a few back streets and got on the gas a few times.. I whooped it around a corner letting the back end slide all over the street a little. (wish I coulda filmed it) This is my first truck with a turbo 350. Im definitely missing the extra gears in my previous 700r4's.
Overall it drove well, Tranny shifts were nice and solid, chirps the tires every time

I did notice a few things perhaps someone can chime in and point me in the right direction. The truck does have a tilt wheel but it still seems to be a bit tight. Is there a way of shortening the actual column pushing the steering wheel closer to the dash a tad.

Also Im not sure if its because i have an aftermarket billet shifter, but it feels quite loose/wobbly and too close to the actual steering wheel.

Other than that I have a few wires in the engine bay I want to clean up

Mandy,

Do you have any idea how the grille is done on the inside? Is it painted silver?

nice truck. all yo uneed is to work on the bed some. I 'am looking for a 67 thru 72 radiator support. mine is too rusty to repair. I found one for 171.00 and shipping puts it over my limit.

Re: South FL 67' Build Thread

Last week I started cleaning up some wires and I noticed my electric fan sending unit was cracked. I took it off. And have gone to every auto part and speed shop in my area looking for it. I looked on Jegs and Summit and like 10 other online shops and finally found one that had it. Hopefully the order goes thru and I don't get a call or email saying its on back order. dumb

That's a beautiful truck, Mandy. When I was a kid, my best friend's dad had one just like it that I admired very much.

man thats crazy! i was just about to ask you today if you were gonna say goodbye to the clear lenses and get the red and amber lenses back on the truck.... i think i already have my anwser. NICE CHOICE the amber parking light lenses are a really nice contrast to the 67 68 chevy grilles.
