choppin the roof off

Hey all I Suddenly got a wild hair somewhere and i am playing with the idea of cutting off the roof and rear section of the cab on my 69 c/10 fleetside. Has anyone done this before or seen this done?
thanks in advance.

Re: choppin the roof off

I saw one last summer in my area. By the time I got back to look at it closer it was gone. These are the pics I took as I drove by.

Of course, my rig runs all summer with the top off....

Re: choppin the roof off

I have done that. Cut the top off my old '70 short bed. Used the top half of a '69 blazer windshield frame and cut down the fiberglass roof to fit. Figured using the blazer parts,I could get reproduction seals for a blazer to work on the truck. Here are a few pictures.....

The start:

The initial top cut:

The blazer windshield frame splice:

The blazer roof:

The last rebuild:

Rear cab had metal tubing weld in opening with nutserts to bolt down rear part of roof.

Sorry for posting so many pics....just thought you might want to see what you could be getting into......

Dude, if that's the mood you're in, buzz your hair short or something, wait a week and see if you still want to perform a surgery to your truck that you can't take back

Re: choppin the roof off

Did you glass the steel rear panel from the truck cab to the fiberglass blazer roof?

Re: choppin the roof off

I don't think I would or could ever do it to my truck....but...I love the ingenuity and you guys are clearly doing good work on the conversion.
In summer there is a lot to be said for cruising around in a convertible.
All good

I like different! Crew cabs, suicide doors, soft tops, no tops, AMC Gremlins.
