all cluster ans dash lights out 70 c10

All my dash lights went out. Fuse checks out ok..park lamps work. Dome light works. Are there other fuses somewhere or do you think it is the headlight switch..I have wiggled it, turned it, etc. Nothin?

It sounds like you probably lost the ground connection.

Check the gray wire on the heater /AC panel and if you have 12 volts on it, to ground, then your dash cluster connections or the ground is definitely suspect.

no power to gray wire( I assumed your meaning the heater panel light), no power to the fuse at the fuse box for the lights. if I put a jumper to the lights fuse, they work. all other fuses have power. Thoughts?

Yes that's the one, If you have no power to the Pnl lights fuse then You are not getting power from the headlight switch. The power from the switch comes in the form of a dark green wire that is fed by the switch power through the variable resistor built into the switch and controlled by the knob ,

Turning the knob controls the amount of resistance in the green wire to current flow which controls the brightness of the dash bulbs. Either you aren't getting power to the resistor or you aren't getting power from it.

Looking closely at the diagram shows the dark green wire coming from the switch in the lower right corner and it runs to the fuse panel to the pnl lights fuse. in the second diagram. The third diagram shows a headlight switch for the post 68 trucks and you can see the green dash lights terminal.

trace the dark green wire to this diagram in the lower right corner where it goes to the Pnl Lights fuse. It's the top one in the bottom section just above the orange one.

Simple things first, try fiddling with the dash harness. mine did the same thing and was just not pushed in 100%.

You guys are too kind. I do get a lot of satisfaction out of helping my fellow truck members. There are a lot of knowledgeable guys on this site and they have helped me out as well. VV

Re: all cluster ans dash lights out 70 c10

Old thread I know but I have a related question that I could not find the answer to by searching.

Does the courtesy Ground need to be connected for everything to work (I understand that I would not have dome lights.

Also does it connect to say a battery of frame ground? I installed a full painless harness and as none of the rest of the harness supplied grounding wires and this wire was not supplied I am assuming it goes to a regular batery -- tyoe ground.

Re: all cluster ans dash lights out 70 c10

Crazy that these threads are from 13, my fuse box isn’t even getting power to the cluster feed fuse. The headlights work as well as the brights. Which leads me to believe it’s a problem with the orange wire to the headlight switch or the dark green one for the cluster lights. No parking lights or done either

Re: all cluster ans dash lights out 70 c10

There was a member here not long ago that figured out a kid or grandkid turned the headlight switch dimmer knob all the way down to off. Something to check. Also, the headlight switch could be bad, it has a rheostat in it to provide dimmed light power to the fuse.
