Talking 1980 4x4 Project Build

Morning Guys, thought you would like to see what I have been keeping myself busy with Machine Gun Betty

Alright, I traded my 79 GMC Jimmy for a 1980 2WD C10. I just pulled the NP205 from my 1973 GMC. The good about this C10, Great Front Clip, Axles, extra tires, The Inline 6 has great compression for an engine that has only 117k on the speedo, Not to mention who puts 33x14.50x15LT Mickey Thompson's on a 2WD?

Cons:
The cab floor needs to be replaced near the rocker panels, Both doors need to be replaced And the RH side of the bed has major damage. The Guy I traded ended up putting the RH side down the side of a guardrail, so the bed has taken some serious damage,

Done
I have gotten rid of the 80's styled headlight bezels, Made the front of this truck look like a 1973 Chevy truck. Wired the tail lights back together, new head lights, fresh oil change, new spark plugs, she runs like a tank.

Going To Do After Winter
I am going to take a C10 and Convert the truck into a 3/4 ton 4x4.
Remove ever part from the frame, take the cab down to the metal shop and have them fix the floor boards, then take it down and have it primed & painted, Just Haven't picked a color yet. Pick up a few of those cans of Rubber seal for the floor boards so I don't have to worry about mud/dirt or sand. Cut a place though the floor board to place the NP205, take the parts from the 73 C20 to put on my new truck Axles, Bed, LH Fuel tank, Replace the Inline 6 Motor with a Used 77 350 5.7 V8. I will get yall pictures and will be uploading videos so yall can be right there and watch. I hope You Guys Enjoy The Show!

Hey Guys, thought you would like to see some progress, so The Old bench seat is gone, and Made a Custom Edition to the Dash, I put the stereo in the middle so not only can the driver & Passenger control it. Put new 3 way speakers behind the Bench. About to replace the windshield. Dang rocks. Getting my other parts from Classic Industries, About to do some more body work, Removing the Bed & Replacing it with the 73 Duel Tanks. I will be pulling the motor. They look like some custom made hood stiffeners. A lack of oil on these old hinges cause the hold to buckle when you go to shut it. Nice project!

Re: 1980 4x4 Project Build

She is my baby and yes COS399 that is exactly what they are used for, I just have not trimmed them down, I use them for a buck when I tie it down to the hood. But still have a ways to go. Speedometer still not working but Once I am done changing the bed from my 1973 over I will post a few more photos. Gonna have my friends front loader help me with that. Also I need to fix the front windshield as you can tell it has a large crack.

Re: 1980 4x4 Project Build

UPDATE: Front Brakes went out on the truck, so new rotors, calipers, bearings, and my personal favorite Brake Master Cylinder.. Well and I got 2 rotors free, they came from a 1/2 ton 1988 Chevy Van xD. Gotta love parts.

Re: 1980 4x4 Project Build

NEW UPDATE!!

These were taken 4/9/14 to 4/11/14 When I Replaced The RH Driver Door, Removed The Hood & RH Side Front Fender.

I needed to do more body work, So I decided to Remove the Whole Bed. There Is No Point In just keeping one side. So without any help from others I picked it up by the wheel well & Had it balanced on the tire. Then gave a Good Shove. I had to grind a few of the bolts loose just because they were rusted beyond repair. The Bed landed on the Driver Side of The Truck [RH Side]

[URL=http://s1192.photobucket.com/user/ToxiRaverDj/media/1980%20C10%20Custom%204x4/DSCN1652_zps8a6a0c49.jpg.html]

As You can tell there still is alot of work to be done. I still need to pick up another door. But Using this time to put my old 1973 GMC Grille to the front of the truck. I had to take out my drill gun & Mount the Grille Mounts beside the Lights like the Original 1973 GMC, So I measured it up and marked it all out then did my job.

There is still alot of work to be done. Next I will Be starting with the 1973 Bed. Which has duel tanks. I am gonna have to mount another fuel tank to the RH side of the Truck but its worth it to me. And I am sure Yall Really Love this type of stuff. So Cheers.
1973 3/4 ton GMC Super Custom Break Down. Alright, The steering column has been removed, Driver Door, Front RH Side Fender, Grille, Grille Moldings, Radiator, Hood, Hood Latch, And Ect. Then all the Bunches Of Bolts. However, Until I get New Blades for The Grinder, I am stuck with what You see. Previous Owner Decided to weld every bolt together to the front suspension, It could of been worse. And This is The Parts Truck BTW!!

Re: 1980 4x4 Project Build

No problem Rusty, I will have to go back through this feed and make another one. To explain how I got the grille to match a 1973 GMC. I have several video's on how to customize the 1980 Chevy truck into a 1973 Grille & Bezels. Abit of problems. I do cuss like a sailor and the Forum Board wouldn't like that too much. Gotta keep it GA for younger generations.

Re: 1980 4x4 Project Build

High Guys, The 1980 C10 4x4 Build has come to a stall. Turns out with the Cab rusted out & Having to change everything over to a 350 I have decided to stop that build. I have picked up on my 1973 3/4 ton 4x4 Build. I will leave the C10 alone until a later date when I have more time.
