Project... Tired of not having a daily driver!

Well I've parted, sold or flipped a lot (over 20) trucks this year. In the meantime, I've went off the deepend with the 3 trucks I'm building and ran into several snags that are holding things up.
I visited a friend last week and noticed a new truck he grabbed and was going to flip so we worked out a fair price for both of us and needless to say it's mine now.
I am tired already of not having a driver and my 2007 GMC is a nice truck...but It looks like everyone else's on the road. I'm going to do a few things over the next 2 weeks at my buddies shop and get this thing driving so I have a nice dependable driver for less than a few thousand dollars.
Follow along as this will be a short build.

Re: Project... Tired of not having a daily driver!

My buddy pulled it in this morning, yanked the motor tranny for me. I came over after work and pulled the doghouse, removed the brackets and pullies and got it ready for engine compartment cleanup tomorrow after work.
I've got a GM goodwrench crate motor on the stand waiting for the brackets to come back from the blaster this week.

How about a takeoff tailgate that's been in the old mans barn until he took off the camper that was on it and put the tailgate back on!
It seemed odd since the patina matched so I think maybe the previous owner may have had a little fishin story! Lol

That looks like a real clean one Mike. I am sure you will have a nice driver rolling out soon.

I really enjoy my 72 as a daily driver.

Have fun with it,
Take care,
Tom

Thanks Tom,
I've missed not driving the bronze truck this fall so even though I could use the money on my build, I couldn't pass up the total cost of this one. I thought about putting numbers to the build to show it's possible to have a good driver for under $3000 cash out of pocket (not including parts trades)

Thanks Scott,
It still needs rockers and we will have to inspect the cab corners more but I'm not showing this truck, I want to use it to drive to work and pull my trailer around so I don't have to put the wear and tear on the 07 GMC. Wish me luck!

I already have a new dash pad for it and everything's in good shape for the most part. I didn't mention that its got cruise control on it too. That will most likely come off. I have a lot of things to clean up and get ready for the motor to go back in so I'm working on that this week.

Re: Project... Tired of not having a daily driver!

I removed all the pullies and brackets today, they go to the blaster tomorrow.
I also pulled down a set of rockers I had in the garage attic. One is NOS the other is an early stamping. Both have real smooth corner radius stampings and should go good on this truck.
My friend is going to put them on for me in exchange for a coupe engine cores I gave him for parts motors on his circle track cars.
Here are some pics of the rockers...

Re: Project... Tired of not having a daily driver!

Well today I got a few things ready for this truck. Cleaned, peeled and painted the fan shroud. I also bought a 72 disc brake front suspension, but it will not go on until the spring.

Jegs eBay store has them for $1599 normally but a few times a year they go on sale for $1299 with free shipping. My buddy is going through this one and we are just going to reseal it up. Thanks for following along!
