The "I'm back" build thread. Long bed this time

Well, I'm back. After a short hiatus from the classic truck scene I've come to my senses and to terms with who I am so I bought another truck. With the addition of the truck we are closing the deal next week, fingers crossed, on our first house. We wanted a truck to move so I was open to a long bed Anyways Im glad I did. I found a 1970 one family owned original paint king bed with some cool patina that's well.....hidden the original owners son thought he would preserve the truck by spray painting, with primer, over the faded areas aka patina!! Haha anyways I've already begun the process of wiping down the areas with acetone and A LOT of elbow grease I have managed to get about a square foot per hour. The details of the truck are V8 with a 3 on the tree. Factory medium olive with a white top. Factory chrome front bumper with gauges. That's about it. The previous owner did install after market a/c kit that works good. This is the most rust free truck that I've ever seen in person. I have under and over and inside this truck and there is not so much as a pinhole of rot. Just some surface rust on the hood. Plans are to change all the fluids, give it a tune up and then make it short and go from there. Here's a few pics.

Looking good..! why not chop your own frame and box.?

I loved your '68 with the steelies and I'm going for a similar drop and wheels. I figure I'm going to chop mine myself and might just keep the cab on and just do a diagonal frame chop behind the cab, quick and easy.

Thank you for the compliment. I've been thinking about chopping it all down myself except I'm no body man. The frame no prob but I hate body work

Me too I just like bolting on performance parts.! I'm going to talk to someone about the body work part. I can't do that bit. But I like the instructions on this forum where they use the truck as a jig and hack the front and back off. I'm just confused about how they get the body lines on the back part to line up.

Anyway good to see you with a new project and I will enjoy following along.!

Thanks man. It'll be a slower build because we literally are signing the final papers for our first home purchase tomorrow night so money's gotta go towards the home as well. You know

Looking good Shawn! I picked up a 68 LWB while you were out. We moved 8 months ago and I've used the truck to haul anything/everything and it's become my daily driver. It rides smooooth, not to mention speed bumps, curbs, and pot holes no longer exist in my world It will be a while before I lower it and convert it to a SWB

Well my first good he showed up in the mail today. Taking care of some drivability issues first off. Make it a joy to drive. Also rotated the tires.
