passenger door mirror template

Does anyone know where to get a template for an original passenger door mirror for a 64-66? I'd like to purchase one and get the holes drilled while I'm doing the bodywork. If anyone has one they can post on here so we can print it out, that would be great too. I found the plate on the inside of the right door, but can't get my hand and arm up high enough to center punch the location. I'm not ready for the mirror yet, so just need to mark the door.
Thanks in advance

Re: passenger door mirror template

Most 64-66 members are making a template of the drivers side then reversing it to the passenger.

Thanks aerotruck. I will try that and use the measurements from the drawing above. Should come out on.

Re: passenger door mirror template

Hi, I think the illustration shown is for a 63 model which won't work for your 64-66 style door.

I don't have a template but found this thread from CorvetteJim1968 where he shows how to copy the location from the drivers side and transfer it over to the passenger side. The tricky part with the passenger side is getting nuts on the back.

Re: passenger door mirror template

It would be handy to get the height measurement from the bottom of the door, to the center of the two bottom holes, for the mirror bracket. Wonder if it's the same on a 64-66 as a 60-63?

Re: passenger door mirror template

Thanks guys. I just went out and did the transfer, so to speak. I have a lot of holes in my doors from several different mirrors over the years, so will have to have those welded up but I think I got the location right.
I appreciate the replies, thanks again.

Re: passenger door mirror template

Well, I got the pattern transferred over to the right door and the location is an exact mirror of the left door. The left door however, is kind of a mess. I was trying to break one of the remaining bolts loose, and bent the plate on the inside of the door down so now I have to push it back up. The front most bolt was just spinning around with the nut so I just pounded it out.

Re: passenger door mirror template

RivNut would be handy in this case. I bought a kit years ago. Been handy for other projects as well.

I would just measure the drivers side and transfer that to the passenger side.

I will be using Riv Nuts on my passenger mirror, I get them from McMaster-Carr

http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-rivet-nuts/=12nga4n

I was planning on using 1/4-20s but haven't actually checked yet to see if that's the right size or not.
