Looking nice. Where do you normally go for hang outs?

I have made some progress since these pictures were taken.

I have the front end assembled. The hood is still at the paint shop.

Was a longbed 3/4t.(cut box for mockup only). Hope to get the frame ready for powdercoat within the month.:metal:
At normal ride height now but will lay the running boards.

Did you have to cut out the inner fender supports to fit the tires?

I replaced the rear fenders with aftermarket ones that the brace fits tighter to the fender.

Here's an update on mine................

The motor and trans are in place (307 TH350).
Air ride components are installed, need to finish running the lines.
Cab and bed are mounted/bolted in place.
Bed sub-floor is complete.
The bed floor will be covered with some weathered wood and as you can see, a 55 gallon drum covers the bridge notch. The barrel was stripped and sprayed with peroxide (old windex bottle), the rust formed in minutes.
The core support bracket is complete, the front clip is removed while I work with the motor and trans.

The shifter mechanism is home built and works perfectly, it's a $15 alternative to a $250 piece. The "Spoon" will be my gas pedal.
Wheels are Circle Racing 15X7 with 1" BS in the rear and 2" BS will be on the front. Using the offset wheels allowed me to keep the S-10 rear and have the same track width front and rear without a goofy looking wheel/fender combination. I still need to re-drill my hubs and axles for 5/8 wheel studs. I'll be running 57 Cadillac hubcaps with 3" bullets and wide whitewalls.

I plan to begin the suicide door hinge install in the next couple weeks.

I'm going to try and get this thing ready for a trip the Fredricksburg Virginia October '11 for the Hot Rod Rumble.

Just wanted to drop a quick hello to everyone on this wonderful forum. I purchased 2 rough trucks, a 49 and 53. Hopefully I will be able to make a nice running Rat Rod out of one of them. Thanks for all of the great information, looking to start my frame swap in the next couple of months or so. I sure have got my work cut out for me! Here is a pic of the 53.

WOW, very inspersational thread folks!!
Here's mine. 59 Apache Fleetside. I took the bed off last weekend to see where I stand. Looks like I'm standing in a hole! I can't park the truck since I need to drive it daily so it will take longer then I hoped. I have a box coming in (today) from LMC and it holds a few patch panels, new cab mounting hardwear, electrical schematics to fix the butcher job from the PO and all rubber for front sheet metal.
I will have a 4 day weekend coming up. Plan to pull the motor and do a Krylon rebuild and also replace the front fenders. If time allows I will lower by removing a cpl of leafs from all 4 corners.
Over the summer I will get the bed back together.

Hi Fredo,
So that you, huh? You're an old dude, huh...just like me!

Seriously, I thought maybe you were a kid. I think I'm older than you at 56 and I'm just getting back to the '55-'59's after losing my old '57 in my divroce of 11 years ago (can it be THAT long?)

My Dad had a '59 Fleet just like yours when I was a kid. First of his trucks in which my feet would touch the floor. Bfore that a couple '48-'53 five windows. I helped him take it the Fleetside from a straight six to a 283 - which ran GREAT - and then later to a 348 (I handed him wrenches while he cursed it out!). I actually found the SAME truck still with the 348 for sale in Hemet about 6 months ago. I was tempted to buy it but I couldn't swing it at the time...damn.

Maybe we'll run into each other at Pomona or somewhere in the future. Take care, Dan

Kind of new here. Been lurking awhile soaking up some knowledge but haven't posted. Thought I'd join in and show what I'm up to. Bought a trailer load of 49 parts a few months back. From there went to work on a 2" top chop, replaces rusty panels, removed all the vent openings and just yesterday finished the floor fabrication adding a transmission tunnel.

This is a great forum with tons of info thanks to the folks that take the time to help others out. Glad I found it.
