Re: Project: Blank Slate
New to the site, and just finished going thru this entire thread. That is an amazingly clean truck! Love the new wheels and stance, but please don't (and I'm sure you won't) get rid of those rallies! Looks great either way though!

Re: Project: Blank Slate
Actually I was kind of wondering about you... I remember you had posted quite a bit during drop kit install and thought you were hoping I had purchased the bags/arms instead.
Glad to hear you're back in the mix, and thanks for checking it out. The secret was just burning a hole in me... glad I can talk about it finally!!! |
Re: Project: Blank Slate
Truck looks great.....
Perfect balance of old/new:metal: Now if I could just find my own clean grandpa truck to work on things would be perfect...lol:waah::lol: |
Re: Project: Blank Slate
Cole... hang in there man, because I had the same issues you are experiencing. In our area (the rust belt) rust free trucks are nearly unheard of, so I'm still amazed I was able to pick this one up.
Keep an eye out on the trucks for sale on the board as there have been some great trucks sold there over the years. Thanks for the kind words! |

If you don't mind could you pm me what you paid for your truck when you found her? The market tends to very wildly out this way so I would love to get an idea of what a realistic # is so I don't let something good get away. |

He paid way under market value. Ha! I think he still has his "ski mask" if you need to borrow it. |

Re: Project: Blank Slate
I've been eyeballin a original owner 72 c10 swb farm truck around the corner from me. So your sayin I just need to show up with a small bit of cash wearing a ski mask? Hmmm, might just work.
The ol goat knows it's value. Grrrr |

Re: Project: Blank Slate
Hey Nate, question for you...... Do you know what the color paint codes for your truck are? I was looking at a 69 Chevy/gmc factory paint code chart and I think the correct colors are: 503 Light Green and 521 White. Can you confirm? ;)
Thanks, Dale |
Re: Project: Blank Slate
Not a problem Dale.
According to the SPID: Paint - 14533AD White/Light Green As far as the actual paint codes, I have found tpcglobal.com to be accurate for these old trucks. I can't access the site right now (work constraints) but check out their site (tpcglobal.com) and then they have an entire internet library of any make/model you need. Select 1969 Chevy Truck and it should bring up the paint chip chart, and then a second page with paint code info. Sorry I don't have it saved, or else I would post it up. EDIT - if I don't see you post back before tomorrow morning, I will try to get them for you tonight. |

Thanks, I did access the Paint codes for the 69 Chevy/GMC at tpcglobal and indeed the paint codes I mentioned seem to be correct. My SPID was removed at some point so I do not have a record of the two-tone paint codes, however I know my truck was a two-tone green/white because the PO did not remove the bed when he painted the truck all green. You can see the remains of the white paint form underneath the truck on the bottom of the cab. I'm thinking about painting the white back on the truck. What I don't know is did the GMC two-tone follow the paint scheme of the Chevy? Dale |
Re: Project: Blank Slate
Just read through your whole entire build thread and I am amazed. Those wheels made a world of difference on this truck. I liked it a lot before, but I feel it has become one of my favorites on this board after those wheels and reading this build thread. I hope one day mine will even remotely resemble this piece of work. Great job!

all of those colors look great except the dark yellow (81348?) looks like a rash or something. i dont think i have ever seen one with that color on it? i know chip charts dont do paint justice, though. thanks nate

As for the price on the wheels, they were not cheap. Depending on the size of wheel ran, they vary quite a bit. Check out Billet Specialties website for the price/wheel they have available. IIRC, shipping is around $30/wheel. So like I said... sticker shock, but the end result is well worth it. Quote:
The next 'project' will be a bigger house with more garage space, so until we can find that, I'm going to be stuck with the one I've got. Unless.... a certain project becomes available. |

Re: Project: Blank Slate
Nate if you decide to bag it, do you think you'll have any clearance problems in the rear? Can you get shot from underneath? Thanks,
R/ |
Re: Project: Blank Slate
Rob, I will try to get you a shot sometime this week.
Without modification... yes. With modification... no. I weighed out that decision on this truck for over 2 months, and with my dream for this truck I wanted to keep it as stock as possible, without any major modifications. As it sits right now I could replace the drop/wheels and throw on new lower a-arms and you wouldn't even know. That is what I had planned for this truck.... now my next project, well you'll just have to wait for that one. :D |
Re: Project: Blank Slate
Nate, the truck looks awesome. I wanted Vintecs but the budget was a lil short so went with the hopsters.... eventually i may go with Vintecs. The truck keeps looking better and better........
