Thanks Josh. The paint isn't as good as the picture shows. It will most likely need to be done in a couple of years. At that point, I will do some sheet metal repairs too.

Bennetth, Awesome truck! In fact, if you had 15x10 rims (at least on the rear), bumpers and wrbenson blue, you would have my dream truck ;-)

Wrbenson, what shade of blue is that? It looks very similar to Presidential or "Patriot" blue, but it's the exact shade that I'll be painting our '72. Super Sharp!!:metal:

Thank you! I bought it local, rough cut. It's Lacewood, a Brazilian hardwood. Machined and finished it myself. Me and a buddy made the wheeltubs out of 16 guage polished stainless also. There's alot of work in the bed.

The drop looks awesome! If you go with a 2" spindle, will you leave the rake or drop the rear a bit more?
And if you find a 2" spindle and it turns out to be actually 2", please let me know where ya found it. All I've come across are 2.5" spindles.
It seems as though CPP advertised a 2", but after talking to a tech, they said the actual drop was 2.5.
Again, looks great as she sits. Keep us updated :metal:

Thanks. I would plant to drop the rear an inch or so, but I think 5" in the front may be to much for all of my daily driving on these country roads around here. I drive the truck everyday so I may just leave it for now and do bags eventually. Thanks for the compliments.

Thanks for the compliments! When driving my truck I feel like I need a pamphlet to hand out, every gas station is a conversation. That's cool though. The truck was originally a long bed and was cut down by the previous owner. The stepside bed I painted to match and used a flat clear coat. I need to lower the front just about 1" and the stance will be just as I envision. The truck rides and drives great, it works real nice as a parts hauler for the shop.

Wheel Vintiques Smoothies
15x7 Front - 225/70/15
15x8 Rear - 255/70/15

Hubcaps are also Wheel Vintiques #1005-1

Will those wheels clear 4 wheel disk brakes?

Heavymetl 05-17-2014 10:29 AM

Re: pictures of shortbox stepsides

They're only a 15" wheel, so they certainly would not clear any type of modern large disc brake setup. But if you're just running an old school disc setup (like my ECE front discs) you shouldn't have any issues. The smoothie has significantly more clearance than the stock style early steel wheels.

Thanks. I'm just running your standard CPP 4 wheel disk set up, not a bb kit. I'm just trying to figure out what wheels I will be running once this all goes together.
