My 1958 Apache 3100 Stepside. It did run and drive when i bought it but i have since removed the engine (283) and 3 speed tranny to rebuild and freshen up. Got the bed and front end removed this week and im working on painting the frame. Next the cab gets attention. I plan to replace complete wire harness and then suspesion and brakes. Last will be the bodywork, paint, and interior. Wish me luck

Re: Show us your projects
Hey guys, 1959 shortbed fleetside apache owner here.
Had it since '05, been workng on it here & there but mostly cruising it around and enjoying it for the time being. Planning to install a new 350 sometime this spring/summer and also if money/time permits install an air bag suspension. Engine specs: Two bolt main 350 block - stock bore & stroke EB Performer intake manifold topped with an EB 600cfm carb & 14" K&N air filter. Mid-performance 441 cast iron GM heads Corvette Ram Horn exhaust manifolds... not running headers unless I figure out a way to clear the steering box. Engine internals include Comp Cams Xtreme Energy cam (mild cam nothing too special) Comp Cams brand hydraulic lifters, pushrods, springs, rockers etc all matched up for this specific cam. Stock crank & rods, mid performance pistons Here's some photos of what I got going on: http://jamessolano.com/59/001.jpg http://jamessolano.com/59/009.jpg http://jamessolano.com/59/010.jpg http://jamessolano.com/59/002.jpg http://jamessolano.com/59/003.jpg http://jamessolano.com/59/004.jpg http://jamessolano.com/59/005.jpg http://jamessolano.com/59/006.jpg http://jamessolano.com/59/007.jpg http://jamessolano.com/59/008.jpg http://jamessolano.com/59/012.jpg http://jamessolano.com/59/011.jpg http://jamessolano.com/59/013.jpg |

Re: Show us your projects
Hey guys,
There are some pics of my truck a few pages back but today my mom found a picture in a box and I just had to share it. The truck looks almost exactly the same as it did then (I just got it this fall). The pic was taken in September 1987, the day my dad brought the truck home, and I am the 4 year old boy on the bumper. Also in the pic is my sister (age 6), my dad, and my old dog B.A. (I bet you can guess what 80's tv show had the character he was named after). http://i901.photobucket.com/albums/a..._Sept_1987.jpg I also looked at my rust more closely and I see some major surgury coming soon. http://i901.photobucket.com/albums/a...y/IMG_0843.jpg And just for the sake of pictures. Here are 2 of my dad's 57 chevy that we are working on. Its in our 4 bay, 2 hoist shop. Sadly the 2 door 57 chevy and the 67 GTO convertable were in the other building so I didn't get any pics of them this weekend. http://i901.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_0839.jpg http://i901.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_0838.jpg |

This is my 51 truck that I am re-doing. It is torn apart now. I am putting a dual cavity master cylinder in the stock position. I have had the frame powder coated. It turned out nice.

Re: Show us your projects
I bought my truck 20 years ago, a poor dumb kid in college and it's just never seemed to get going. This is the state it is currently and it's been there for years .. I hope to get working on it again this year. I also have the frame already modified with a Camaro clip up front. Original plans were for a Blown Pro Street look, but since so many years have passed I'm now shooting for smoothed, billet wheels and more a street rod look with probably an LS1 based engine.
Combination of 1955 and 1959 parts .. but will end up a 1955 Cab is pretty near to done, rounded door corners http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...5/pro55cab.jpg Shaved Firewall http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...55firewall.jpg Doors shaved with reversed latches http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...55solenoid.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...o55doorpin.jpg Shaved Dash http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2.../pro55dash.jpg Shaved Drip Rails http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...shaveddrip.jpg Hopes is to have something along these lines (pictures I found), air suspension, billet wheels, smoothed out. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...5/DSC00412.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...5/DSC00411.jpg |

Father/Son project.....
today Pops got to drive his 46 out of the garage for the first time, 6 yrs in the process....he got discouraged last summer and never though he would get done after a driver T-boned him on his Sportster...a few months to recover and I moved back here to Ok. to inspired and help him get it on the road for this summer...was just a chassis with cab mounted then...this shot was first time he got to drive...on the way to get new exhaust....probably won't see him much as I'm sure he has a few hundred people to show it off to as he has been bragging about it for the last 6 yrs :-) BTW...he is 76 and all work except the motor and final paint was done by us |

Just found this shot of us pulling it out of the woods. It had been sitting since 91,,, but had a title and a 283!! that wasnt locked up ,, That engine fired right up with points and plugs changed. Not bad for 500$.. Just heavy surface rust with a few holes here and there. I have been wanting to post pics of the build, just have to bum computer time from my bro!
