Don't worry you're far enough away that the axle won't hit you:lol:

It happened to my brother in law when he and my sister were just dating. 65 MPH on the freeway, sliding across four lanes with sparks flying. Almost rolled the van, my dad was less than impressed.

The last car I painted for $ was a 70's camaro, it was sweet. New motor, lots of bling, new interior and of course nice paint. A couple of months after it was finished he spit the rearend out the side and totalled it. Hard lesson to learn.

Just got confirmation this morning that I'll be getting this wednesday off to add to my thanksgiving so I'll be traveling to the beach with quad and dirtbike in tow to have a lil rest and relaxation instead of turkey  then I'll be back next week to drive my truck one last week before parking her for the winter to do my upgrades so guess I'll need to start a build thread on the great white land shark that I'll be driving in the meantime

Whew! glad you made it the week on that old axle. What gear is in the new one?

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build

I still have another week when I return Sunday so in two Sundays ill be getting the other truck ready. Mine SHOULD be 3:73 gears so I'd like to stay that with the new gears for freeway sake

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build

Last week of drivin my baby full time for a few months :( buuut on the upside it's only 148$ for new plates and registration for the dooley to get on the road and since its an extra car on my insurance I'm expecting only 20$ or so for insurance monthly!! that's gonna really help when the gas bill starts rolling in this weekend. Should be getting her flushed of old gas new battery in and a tune-up this weekend and on the road by at least sunday afternoon will be starting a build thread to relive this 20 year anniversary of the truck since it's first rebuild can't wait!! :metal:

Definitely on the route to getting the rear end out of my 72 soon just wrapping up a few things on the dually so she's reliable while Newtype is down. Thank you all for keeping patient with me I know I havent been so gung-ho lately but the arrival of the landshark has me excited about working on the beauties again.

My only update for now in this standstill is that Supposedly there is a friend of mine with a 71-72 5 lug 12 bolt rear end he pulled from a daily driver to do a swap. he's asking 125-150$ for it I'm wondering if I show clean that one up and swap my old one out and just run this basic one until I can afford to do everything I want my 12 bolt. Any opinions would be much appreciated - Dylan

Well put it this way brothers I don't drink and I don't smoke I don't splurge on 7-8$ Starbucks coffees so all of those bad habits leave me more money to play with on my truck(s) not saying anyone who does do those other habits are bad I just don't need my money going elsewhere hahaha

Guess I should update everyone of my current progress I'm going to be sending my grill off to get the factory anodize stripped off and then polishing the entire outer shell along with painting the inner grill to update the look so here's what I'll be running around with until I can get it all back. Also got some presents for myself and from my father with a upper tool box and a bunch of new tools so I'm thrilled. Also looking to pick up the new rear end this weekend so I'll get to dirty up all my new tools

I have a 72 Chevy truck grill and I need some help with removing the brackets that connect it to the fenders Now I can see all the rivets that hold it top to bottom would it be best to remove them with a drill or possibly a grinder? Also what will I need to get to put smooth rivets back on it so it looks correct? Any help would be much appreciated

Well pretty big update I was able to get my entire grill shell apart this week during some free time at work and what not that will be sent off to get fully stripped and polished within the next couple weeks I hope to have it back before the end of the month. :metal:

Also was able to pick up a sweet deal on a 71-71 5 lug 12 bolt rear end (hopefully 3:73 gearing) needs a little work and clean up plan to steam clean it and por it as well so I can swap mine out this weekend and get it all buttoned up to run for a couple months until I can afford the major overhaul on my original 12 bolt (new guts including a posi from EATON and disc brakes from WILWOOD along with getting the housing powder coated) so big plans there finally getting started I have less than two months until the big show and still need my tailgate to get bodywork done on, painted, and dressed up and what not so here are some pictures to satiate the masses

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build

Sometimes I feel like a stalker. If I see a 67-72 around town I will go out of my way to follow him or get his attention. I have just walked up to houses with a truck in the driveway to talk about it. Of course I wait until I am in my '69 so they don't think I am really weird. LOL
Funny observation though, I drive my '69 around once a week to work and the rest of the time i am in my junky Toyota pick up. When ever I am in the 69 I rarely see any other fixed up cars or trucks of any make, but when I am in my Toyota I see them all over the place.
I wish more guys around here fixed up the 67-72 trucks, seems like most of the guys that have them around here are Sanford and Son type junk haulers, and they could care less about the classic aspect of the era.
