Re: Sold American!
Harley is the schoolbook case for trademark protection and making money from a name. The dealerships became boutiques for products they produced and licensing the name seemed to create more independent products than when the name was freely pirated.
They had 'hog' trademarked when that is a name the public coined. Lawyers went around making bars change their name when bars provided no competition to the company, only free promotion. |

Re: Sold American!
I see small print saying made with foreign and domestic components. Is that Honda motor a foreign component? I wonder how much of it is made in USA. I hope a lot, as in mostly. But I wonder if it isn't the new manipulation of the words "Made in USA", not meaning 100%, more like "assembled in USA". We have USA companies making (or having made) products in foreign countries and foreign companies making things in the USA and we also have any combination of the two. At this point, any part of a product made in the USA is a great thing. I'll get excited about made in USA on a package when I see the factory lights come on and work vehicles filling the lot again

I tell you, when it comes to farm raised eatin', we're in sad shape when it isn't from down the road a piece... if not your own place. I'm happy to say I can fill my meat orders, since I don't raise my own, right in town and it's all raised local. Our locker plant in town is now in the hands of the next generation and they are busy as can be, open m-f normal business hours, Wed is butchering day, and open Sat 8-1. I steer clear off Saturdays. Biz-ee! Us dollars being made off local products. It's just so right! |

Bought these Dayco 3/4" & 5/8" heater hoses from Summit. The price was great, and they're made in USA. The walls are slightly thicker and stiffer than the Mexico-made Gates hose I replaced.

Kansas raised bison. Five miles just west of town.
I buy elk from a guy that raises them 25 miles away but, he comes to the Ottawa farmers market. |
Re: Sold American!
I am literally surrounded by grass fed cattle. But you can't buy any of the beef around here. They can get more money shipping them out. No tengo tiempo para ti.

Local raised meats are one privilege of country livin'. I've talked about our locker plant/meat market before. Those in the know know that Wed. is the day to buy. By the weekend much is low on stock or gone.
I also talked about or plumbing supply house, The Plumbery. Both businesses are multi-generation family run. I scored a small victory for USA with a shut-off valve and o-rings. They had o-rings in every diameter and thickness. Saved me from replacing my polished brass faucet in a market where polished brass is considered passe/non-obtainium. It's not the current trend, you see. Well, historic homes have nothing to do with that! |

Re: Sold American!
I have some of their USA items. They offer some great stuff. I ate an organic yellow squash last evening. It was wrapped up and labeled "Grown in the USA". Isn't that incredible?

Born and raised on my ranch in Dakota. Will be going to a locker in three weeks to get butchered. The town the locker is in has a population of 600 people. I have to make an appointment a year in advance, that’s how busy and good they are. Picture is probably sideways.

I installed some vinyl in a bathroom today. Most of the vinyl I install is made in the USA. Once in a while I’ll lay some vinyl that’s made in Canada. They make a good vinyl up north too.
I need to look at the glue to see where it’s made. |
