Coated - but not with oil (FTW) :)

I hope this gets it this time. Then you can focus on slamming your dually. ;)

Thank you I have the second coat of primer on them right now so ill see how they look by this afternoon and maybe shoot some black so they dry in some actual sunlight today

We thought we got coated ones the first time Shawn and they chipped and faded immediately so disappointing

No bagging the dually it's got too many main issues to be possible right now.

Driver side is definitely not cracked I had some loose bolts that I tightened last night but still have a leak so I think ill check the gaskets tonight or tmrw and find out if they blew or not

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build

Well new foil stock style header gaskets installed still have a leak pass. side was starting to go so that's fine deduced that its my passenger side collector gasket that is blown oh well I'll work on that by saturday to get my specialty ones on.

no major leaking so far however I now see that my breater is definitely an issue so I'll be looking for suggestions as to what else I can run since this one is junk and has already started over-flowing from the valve cover. Any preferences??

My father stopped by so we ran down a checklist for the next week since next Thursday the 14th of Feb. will be the Beginning of the Sacramento Autorama and my very first car show of the 2013 season so stoked to be on display up there!!

He also helped my figure out my ground issue and crappy wiring from the p.o. for my marker, halo, and park light so I have all functioning lights again except for my cargo still waiting on feedback there for a new connector.

and Finally I laid out two coats of semi-gloss black on my door panel inserts they look pretty good so far I'll let them dry up real good and shoot them one last time and then work on taping off for doing the bevel in silver metallic if I can, trim is being polished for the future install maybe have them on by Saturday night

Hey hey as much as I post pictures I figured you guys were going nuts behind the computer or phone  and sorry my phone was down last night and today so nothing right now but I'll upload in a couple hours or so laid another top coat of black on my inserts may need one more just to be sure they're smooth.

so far very few drips of oil none at work and only one about the diameter of a valve stem cap which is leaps and bounds from before :D

and I'll certainly get some insider pics from the event should be hot and heavy getting the truck detailed this weekend

Finally an update from me been meaning to for the past few days but I guess it was still in development anyway here goes.

I was able to finally put my brackets onto my newly polished outer Grille shell so she certainly looks perty now just waiting for my inner to be resprayed since I sanded it down a bit going metallic silver same paint as my wood bed slats just wont be shiny so no clear for that. Was thinking about writing up a full how-to on riveting it together when it's pulled apart since I found nothing on the site that supports putting new ones or re-done grille's back together pretty straightforward but wanted to throw my twist into it thoughts??

To my knowledge my tailgate is on it's way to having some sealer on it by sunday or possibly late Saturday night I'll be grabbing pictures tmrw of that process. Just got my factory assembly manual so I'm going to look for the exact hole locations for the the rear trim on the gate and bezels.

Now here's the goodies I got a cigarette lighter assembly since mine was missing and I like the fact that most of my truck works now so I'm buttoning up the last few things on it per say the factory steering wheel I just bought to restore next week along with factory door panel inserts (going black on these to see what they look like in my interior chrome trim) and also still looking for thee best headliner to put into this durn roof of mine since I have the dimensions and trim to do so now.

Minor stuff I finally changed my fuel filter to a visible to see if gunk is getting to the carb thankfully she's clean so far and also replaced all of my plugs since well the pictures says a thousand words.

Thanks for looking in I'll keep in touch through the weekend if possible and should really have some interesting stuff by next week or so :)

Polished trim is done now looks amazing but I won't put it together until my silver stripe is done so with that tmrw should be the day they are finished but I'll take apart the panels over the weekend

Also got a present from Eastwood today in a repair kit for my recently purchased steering wheel. Guess I'll give it a go since ive committed this far into this wheel hopefully it'll turn out good or at least decent enough for now until I get bored with it :haha:

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build

I haven't seen a rocker arm do that before. Make sure you turn the motor over by hand before you try to start it after you've replaced those parts. I would think the valve had to touch the piston for that to happen, but if you're lucky maybe just years of friction finally ate through the rocker arm.
