Got some more filler layed down and sanded off today. I've been struggling with a wave that I can't seem to get rid of where I welded up the original gas filler. I think my next attempt will be successful as I have hammered down a few high spots. While working with that, I also started to fill the vertical sections between all the dimples in the back of the cab. Slowly but surely getting there. Picked up a new gallon of filler the other day as well so I'm prepared.:metal:

Nice work. I know, it sucks to do bodywork, but it will payoff in the end.

Thank you. I honestly don't mind the actual bodywork itself, it's the dang dust everywhere that really sucks. If a guy goes into it knowing that it is a tedious job it's not so horrible. It will for sure payoff in the end and I'm excited to see the cab in primer.:metal:

Then again I will be doing a bunch of bodywork so I know exactly how you feel.

Just mocked up the mounts for the twin turbos yesterday so bodywork is now at least one step closer.

That's awesome! I am jealous that you appear to be completely ready for body work on all the panels. I still have alot of metalwork in my future.

Don't get me wrong I still have metalwork to do. I have replaced half the sheetmetal on the cab and still have to do all the floor/rocker welding from underneath and the cab supports. However, I am doing this alone in my garage and need to do things in the order I can which is dictated by whether the cab is on the frame or off. Since it's on now I needed to mock up motor/trans install and turbo install.

It's a never ending story. :waah:

Alright, I was finally able to get rid of the "wave" that I was getting on the pillar. Turns out I was oversanding where the gas cap used to be. I also continued around the indents and even started filling inside of one indent. I added some new blocks to my collection as well to help with those small details.

They are from Big Kid Blocks. I just found out about them earlier this year and I love their products. I got their door gap tool and initiation block kit earlier and I absolutely love them.

Man you are really going all out. That's a lot of bodywork to be doing for an area you will never see when the bed is on. Unless you're running a flatbed. LOL

Haha no flatbed. I don't know about never seeing it though. My dad's truck is all together and I can see the back of the cab pretty decently.

Wow really? Most C10s I see the bed is so close to the cab I literally see the rounded back of the cab and a few inches in. Hmm. Guess I'll need to test fit the bed on my kid's truck before finishing bodywork. LOL

Haha I'm also just super picky. :hh: I have noticed that these trucks have very different tolerances from each other sometimes. Maybe it's just a Canadian thing. :canada: :lol:

Getting close to done with indentations on the back of the cab. The first three just need a few small touch ups and they are done. The fourth needs a sand and probably a few touch ups and the fifth has one coat and will need another for sure and maybe touchups.

While I have been waiting for the mud to cure, I have been adjusting some other things that have been bothering me which included the roof rail right where the winsheild pillar meets it. I dont know what happened there but it was not pretty. It also looked nothing like the passenger side so I decided to grind out a bunch of excess metal leaving me with a small hole to weld up. I forgot to take a before picture but I assure you it was ugly.

I have spent the last 2 hrs reading about your truck. Wow! Not being a body man could you explain to me what you mean by lay down or laying in wire? I think you are about 2 years ahead of me on your truck.

Thanks for the read, it's awesome that people are interested in my project. Id love to help you out but could you be a bit more specific on what you are after? Are you referring to when I was putting a piece of wire along my rocker?

Yes so there were a few spots where the panels just weren't meeting up where they should have been so I would just slice it and then I would pull it the where everything lined up and sometimes I was left with quite a large gap. Some areas were around 3/8". So what I ended up doing is I picked up some lengths of 1/8" steel rod and I would use it to help me fill in those larger gaps. It was a bit of work because I would then have to make tacks on both sides of the wire until it was all smoothed up but it was better than attempting to bridge the large gap with just weld. Hope this helps.

Couple more small touch ups to sand in the last two indentations and they are done. After that, I plan to block my cart up a bit to get it to a comfortable working height to fill the cab corners and rockers. Getting closer and closer to seeing some primer!

I used tig wire to help close up the door gaps and to expand and shape the one rocker.

Thank you! It is alot of sanding but it is very rewarding to see everything form up and come together as one smooth piece. It's not as bad as it seems. Just tackle it one piece at a time.

Well I finally finished up all those glorious indents.:barn: I even just about finished up the passenger pillar to the lower body line. Still clinging to that first can of bondo. I have enough for one more mix on the ol' oinion board. Next will be touch up of the door openings and then I'll lift the whole cart to work on the cab corners and rockers. :metal:

My Big Kid Blocks are showing me more areas where my old blocks just weren't cutting it. I'm getting a much better result this time around. Everything is coming along nicely.

So I have been waiting for some larger casters for my cab cart to go on sale and they finally have!:metal: I got these 8" 1200 LB bad boys for 25$ a piece today, regular 60$ a piece. For sure overkill but I wanted more height anyway and the locks on the old casters were pretty fubar'ed. Also being only 3", they were not fun to get back up onto my rubber garage floor when I'd move the cab to the other side for cleaning. Now if only the last dude didn't weld the damn things on.:banghead: Turns out that a Sawzall with a good blade cuts them off pretty decently. Now the worst part is that I've already sacrificed 2 drill bits to the metal gods and I was already low on the things to begin with so I guess this will have to wait until I can get more bits.:waah:

I feel like I can suggest,
That it is time for you to learn to sharpen a Twist Drill:lol:

Even if you don't do it exactly right it will still drill the hole.:ito:

Start with 1st video then when you get (good)
Search more video's like the 2nd one :chevy:

New casters are in place and working awesome! As well, I got some ducting to extend the pickup for my exhaust fan down towards my bench. Should get rid of alot more dust and fumes this way and not just suck out all the hot air off the heater. Now I can get back on the filler!:metal:

Well its time for another boring post of filler progress that looks like I haven't accomplished a whole lot. :lol: I promise that I'm getting there on the passenger door jamb. Its all these little details that are killing my time but I think that they will be worth it in the end.:metal:
