Re: Porsche 944: Actually there is a substitute
I keep think of the Johnny cash song as I watch your build...One piece at a time, Instead of just the years of caddys rolling out in the song, you can run thru manufactures parts included in the build! Nice work as always. Keep on trudgin'.

Hi everyone. I haven't kept the thread current so here's a quick catchup:
The general trend was to try and get any/all fab work around the engine bay complete so that I could pull the motor and then prep/paint the engine bay. Toward that end I give you all the brackets and doodads I made. I'm now ready to pull the motor and shift over to some non-fab tasks for a few weeks. The things in the picture are all going to get cleaned, sand blasted, painted and seam-sealed. |
Re: Porsche 944: Actually there is a substitute
that's a lot of fabbing sparky.....will look good with some paint on it....

The motor is back out of the 944. I have a few final fabs things inside the engine bay - then the motor goes in for attempting 1st fire around July.

Here is a link to a very poor quality video w/sound. Sorry for the low resolution – it is only my 2nd ever YouTube upload.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q59xACBmF2c No muffler yet and probably a couple of exhaust leaks. However progress is progress! |

After getting it to run I of course decided to change some things. I'll skip over the details - but I tore out a big chunk of Mustang stuff that I had already welded in. |

This was all part of me deciding to go 3-link & panhard bar instead of the factory Mustang 4-link. So I discovered that there are factory Ford 3-link 8.8 axles with posi-trac under certain Ford Aerostars.
And I eventually found one with the gear ratio I wanted. So now I am about 75% of the way on converting the 944 over to 3-link + panhard bar. |
Re: Porsche 944: Actually there is a substitute
Once I get the 3rd link fabbed and assembled, I will have to redo the battery mount, the fuse block, put a floor back in that big cutout area...
Then I can resume the parts about making it run, move and more importantly stop. |
Re: Porsche 944: Actually there is a substitute
Looks good!
