Man that's a real solid Blazer! I'll be watching this build, I remember seeing the blue truck with the turbo on the Power Tour a couple years back.

Yea, gonna use the same turbo for now. Planning to upgrade in the near future though. Going to stick with a T6 flange Borg Warner S400 though.

Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build

I just had a "EUREKA!!!" moment, and the lightbulb popped up!

I've been racking my brain about what to do regarding front seats...I REALLY like the front seats from my 05 silverado, with the seat belt integrated (since there is nowhere to attach a shoulder harness on a blazer), but access to the rear seat would be difficult at best. I really like the look of the 07-12 burb/escalade/yukon XL 2nd row buckets, but, and it's a bonus that they flip forward for rear seat access....but the deal-breaker for me was that they didn't have the integrated shoulder harness.

I just realized, that since I'm planning to run a cage in the truck, I can weld a tab to the cage to mount the shoulder harnesses to! Can't believe it took that long to dawn on me, lol. Now the hunt begins for front seats...

Called up Dave at Porterbuilt yesterday and ordered up a modified Stage II Deluxe rear suspension kit. Should be here in about 4 weeks.

Started removing some items to sell...next step will be to pull the front clip off, and yank the engine/trans/tcase.

Been making some progress...

Got the doghouse off of it, and swapped some new roller tires on it, since the tires that came on it didn't hold air very well.

http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...711_224714.jpg

Next step is to pull the body tub off the frame so I can spend some time pressure washing the hell out of the frame. Then out comes the engine/trans, etc.

Also took a couple more pics of the areas that were hidden by the fenders and inner fenders.

Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build

Finally got some time to work on it again last night. Got the tub pulled off of the frame, got all the old fuel lines unbolted from the frame, as well as the old exhaust hangers, etc.
Next up is some quality time with my pressure washer to remove 40 years of grease and grime, and to get the old drivetrain pulled out.

Little bit of progress last night.

Came up with a wheeled metal cart that allows me to roll the tub around the shop, and get it out of the way when needed. Actually rolls really nice with that much weight on it.

Also got some pressure washing done on the frame....with a ton to do yet.

I can't thank you enough for documenting you project with great pictures of a seamingly unmolested K5. The picture of the rear latch assembly is about 6 hours too late for the bald spot I have do to scratching my head at the assembly the previous owner performed on my Son's newly aquired 72 K5. I wonder if you would be intrested in selling any old stuff which will not be a part of your build? Interior? Rear interior side panels? SPARE TIRE HOLDER? (now that I know what the big ass bolts in the rear are for) The 72 is 80/90% done but we recently purchased from the Widow of the Man who Stuck it in the Barn 12 years ago too sick to finish clean but a B-A-S-K-E-T CASE THANKS JEFF

Hi Jeff, I have a for sale thread going in the blazer parts section that I'm trying to update as I disassemble the truck.

Made some more good progress tonight. Got both driveshafts removed, pulled the shocks off, as well as the parking brake cables. Also got the engine/trans/t-case all in one shot. Need to do a little more pressure washing now that the drivetrain is out of the way, and measure/record axle centerlines since the axles/springs will be coming off next, and I will need a reference for placement of the 2wd suspension.

Looks like the only thing you need to keep for this build is the frame rails.

Coming along nicely. what are dim's of your shop? I like the pole barn design. I notice you dont have any lights up, why is that? must be hard to work with flood lights.

Basically. I am planning to use the 4x4 stuff to convert the blue C-10 to a K-10.

It's a work in progress...need to finish wiring it, insulating it, sheeting the ceiling and walls, painting the interior. There's not enough hours in the day.

I do the bulk of my fabrication work in the house garage for now, which is insulated, drywalled, heated, and wired for 240 for the mig, tig, and plasma. Not to mention it has lights ;)

I hear you on that. thats a good size shop. At least you go the space to keep it all inside. all it takes is money and time. both of which can be hard to come by some times.

Numbers matching...just as it came from the factory, but not for long. I'm a hot rodder, not a waxer....trying to impart that into my daughter as well :)

Well, axles and steering are off of it, and it's moved over to the house garage for some cutting/grinding/fabrication. Let the games begin.
