So sorry, life has been busy and I haven’t been on here in a long time. Being I’m only 34 I didn’t take the chance of trying to put in my name so my dad who is 64 signed it at the time and took to local dmv and no issues. Then I just had him sign it over to me and I now have updated title in my name!

Update on the truck for those interested. I did keep stock frame rails and did a mustang ifs up front and 4 link in rear. I fixed almost all of the rust areas and blended best we could. All new glass and weather stripping, decided to do just a bone stock freshened up 5.3 with a 65e. Truck is being wired as we speak with all new wiring and ls stand alone harness, vintage air and its prob about 2-3 months from hopefully being ready to drive!

If you have a chance check out the "Delaware loophole". It's on their state site and they will walk you through it. Basically if your vehicle is 15 years old and has not been stolen in the last 10 years you can get registration in Delaware with no residency requirement. Delaware does not issue titles on vehicles over 15 years old. You then take the registration to your state BMV and transfer the registration. Your state will then issue a title. Since Delaware does not issue titles on vehicles over 15 years old your state cannot require it. This is used a lot on exotic cars with questionable origins.

Cool that you got the papers squared away and are making serious progress on it.

There are two or three states that are favorites for laundering stolen vehicles. Vermont seems to be at the top of the list right now. Just as many states redflag any title that was prepared by Broadmore Title company you can bet that Vermont titles will be cause for a red flag on vehicles in other states before long.

fourspeed wagon and I probably use the same license and title office in Union Gap that in my estimation is the best in the state of Washington. Owner with vast knowledge who trains his clerks well and they gain that knowledge and or aren't bashful about asking him or the more experienced clerks about an issue. Older Washington Titles that are out of the system you have to wait until they send some clerk back to dig in the files in archives in Olympia for the paper copy. I had to do that with my 71 GMC that my aunt gave me as it hadn't been registered for a number of years after my cousin's kids blew the engine up. That and the fact that later my aunt gave me the original title my uncle had that had been "lost" in the drawer. That title will show up as being replaced as a lost title if you were to take it into transfer it.

The 51 4100 that I have has an Oregon title with the engine number and no engine. The Oregon plate number is on the title and the rusty beat up Oregon plate that matches is still on the back of the truck and is staying there until I have a clear Washington title.

Still a bill of sale from the seller even with a title especially if you are crossing state lines. It might not be a bad idea to get the seller to go with you to a notary to do the bill of sale and have it notarized in many cases.

Great work on aging those fender repairs! Would you share what you did to accomplish that? Especially if you used a green color to "match" the original what was it?

I could certainly be wrong. In Indiana I went the normal rout on my 53. I bought and titled it in Cali in 1980. The paper title was long gone when I tried to register it in Indiana in 2018. it took 3 court orders and 4 months to get a title on a truck in Indiana I owned since 1980. I still had the personal cal. plate. 53 6 POPR

That's a lot of trouble for not applying for a lost title from Cali. Especially if you have an old registration slip and the plate number.

That local to fourspeedwagon and I license office can bring up every vehicle that is titled in your name that is in the computer in about 15 seconds as I have seen it happen, I have even walked in and bought tabs for cars with no paperwork except my drivers license. They find you, they find what vehicles you own that are in the computer and done. When I got my Chinook camper for my 71 the gal who gave it to me only had the letter that said she was the executor of her late husbands estate. Lucky the owner of the place knew both of us but lost title and all it took less than ten minutes to transfer the title and for me to get new plates and registration. The skill and knowledge of the person you are dealing with means a lot. The folks at that office will boot you out the door so fast it will make your head swim if you are trying to pull something bogus though.

I'm assuming that you went though Cascade and I had to have them do the same thing on my 71 that had belonged to my uncle with a Washington title that hadn't been licensed for a number of years. A few days wait until the clerk in Olympia went back and dug through the files. If the owner of Cascade doesn't know the answer he has the phone number of the person in Olympia that does though.
