Got a little more done yesterday before the rain strarted again.. I dont have huge garage that i can tie up for days on end ...My wife loves me but not that much...still no power tools..its kind of fun to see how far i can get before i get frustrated and use them... Its getting closer to when i will need them though. So i can see I need new cab mounts already. I also need new upper shock mounts as these are toast. I already knew i had to replace all the brake lines, u joints , carrier bearing, and rebuild the dana 60. the list keeps getting longer.....i have a feeling ill have to buy the wife flowers before i get the rear end back down on the ground... cant wait to do the front...

Re: 67 gmc c-20
That is a really nice truck. I wish mine was that straight and rust free.

Re: 67 gmc c-20
Yeah i got really lucky... A free truck almost totally rust free. And none of the body really lined up almost all of the body mounts are shot.

I know this looks hillbilly and it really is but putting the axle back on the rims allows me to move it around while i work on cleaning and reworking.. I am kind of getting away from the idea of flipping the axle... thought about just using lowering shakles and taking out a few leafs..and thoughts comments concerns? i dont know if i will have to notch the bed for extended shakles or not.,,,,

Re: 67 gmc c-20
Its your truck but I would leave it a 3/4 ton for a good hauler. If you want a lowered ride I'd get a 1/2 ton swb. I think it would be cool to have both. Thats what I'm going to do. Your doing good though. I like the big rear bumper too. I'm going to get one like that for my 3/4.

Re: 67 gmc c-20
How did this turn out? If its still not together take a look at this. It's a write up I did on how I dropped mine, I got 3" in the front and 4" in the back for about $10 and 4-5 hours in the driveway. If you have any questions let me know.

Re: 67 gmc c-20
This is crazy but was doing a quick internet search on 67 gmc c20, and spotted this truck. Thinking wow! This looks just like mine that I bought about 15 years ago. Well, it is the same truck. Very cool seeing what happened to the truck before it came to be mine. Since purchasing I have had a lot of work done.
New seals on windshield Gutted cab and put in new patch panels, cab corners, and rocker panels New cab mounts Removed body and repainted frame Replaced the entire brake system Put body back on. 2 layers of sound deadener in cab and doors, 2 layers of carpet underlayment, and a rubber floor. Recovered seats New 3 point seatbelts New dash cluster w blue LEDs All put back together and driving Heavy duty trailer hitch Now, The 2 major issues are new seals in doors and vent windows. And replace both the cab and engine harness. There are some weird shorting issues that keep blowing the fuse for the cab light, dash lights, head lights, and tail lights. |
