Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
I would like to be considered for one of the first sets. Gotta get the truck back on the ground before the HOA says anything. Trying to build this truck without getting any fines. I have cash in hand.

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
Also, will the e-brake caliper still be the 93-97 f-body caliper as in your previous adapter plates?

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
No they will not use those calipers

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
Captain, do you still have these brackets available? Did I understand your descripton correct, I will be able to use my stock 15s and have rear disc brakes?
I was reading several different posts on front disc brake conversions, do you have any suggestions on ways to convert to disc in the front using parts found at my local auto parts supplier? By the way, big props on your contributions to us fellow forum members!:metal: Quote:

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
Yes these brackets are still available. Would you like a set in bare steel or satin black powder coat? These will work with 15" disc brake compatible wheels.
Aside from the spindles and aftermarket 6 lug rotors, you can convert to front disc brakes by using '73-'87 components. There are a few disc brake conversion threads in the '60-'66 FAQ index. Quote:

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
what is the outside diameter of the smallest rear 6 lug disc setup you have?
weather it be E-brake on non E-brake. My rear rims are 12 inches and have 7 inches of backspace..... thanks CAPT. |
Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
I will have to get you a measurement tomorrow night after I get home from the shop. They both work with 15" diameter disc brake compatible wheels.

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
Captain,
would it be possibly to purchase only the main caliper bracket as to be used in a weld on configuration? Understandable if not. I just prefer welded on caliper brackets. Thanks! -Wizit |
Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
I am currently out of the caliper brackets for this set, but I do have a couple sets that were used during R&D and were not quite what I was wanting. You could likely make those work since you will be welding them on. Let me know.

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
any modifications necessary to a hydroboost setup? All I did was replace the booster and master cylinder on my '72 4x4. Will it run your kit?
|
Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
Whether you run a vacuum booster or hydroboost, it has no affect on the operation of two calipers and two wheel cylinders, or four calipers. You do need the correct master cylinder and proportioning valve, or an adjustable proportioning valve for either a disc/drum or disc/disc brake system.

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
how can I tell which proportioning valve I have? (The more I think about it, pretty sure I just changed the booster & kept the master cylinder.)
|
Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
I have no idea how to tell just by looking at one. The difference is internal. If it is the original to your truck it will be a disc/drum proportioning valve. You can try using that and then installing an adjustable valve in the rear line and see if you can dial in the braking bias that way. Some guys prefer to do it that way.

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
Hi,
I'm fairly new to the forum. I have a 71 C30 and while it has factory disc, I wanted to upgrade to larger discs. It has 8 lugs of course. I am upgrading to 18 inch wheels. I have a set of 4 piston brembos I took off of a new Camaro SS that was upgrading to 6 piston. I would like to use these up front with either 13 or 14 in rotors Do you have anything like that? Thanks |
Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
Sorry but no I do not make anything like that. I don't think you will be able to find an 8 lug rotor thin enough to use those Brembo calipers on.
|
Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
Bought your setup and machined axles down and rotors work great. With the 7/16 studs there is a lot of space on the wheel stud openings. At the start of post you suggested 1/2 studs. Any idea on application or part #.
Bracket setup is nice!! |

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
Will adding these breaks change the track width?
