heres the start of a bike a built last summer. 1 1/2" tubing for the bars and the functioning suicide brake and shifter in the frame. It was finished off very nicely! :metal:

Yours must have not been ridden much at all. The story on mine is after a swap meet I still had the fever and stopped into a bicycle shop on my way out of town. The shop sold Schwinn among other makes, but I believe it had been a Schwinn-only dealership back in the day. I get to talking with the owner about my interest in old bikes,so he takes me out back to his building with used bikes where I saw the Corvette. The bike was originally bought there along with one for the wife. They hauled them on their RV for years and ended up trading them in for newer bikes after all those years. I bought it in the mid-90s.

Re: "Hot Rod" Bicycles

There are people who would give their first born for that sign. I'd sure like to have one,but not only do I prefer time-worn patinized,I like "cheaper". (Hey,spell check says patinized is wrong. Well,I'll have you know I heard them say that on Antiques Road Show...so there!)

I finally found an old ratty tank for my bike. My wife said its an early Christmas present. I think she's actually going to wrap it up and not let me have it till then. :smoke:

Just built a new cruiser for my lady for Xmas. It was a mens frame that a hacked up and made into a womens frame with some ornamental iron. She really loves it and i was pleased with how it turned out.

Very cool. I really like what you did with the ornamental iron. I plan on doing some welding too.

I too plan on building one for the wife and my daughter too. I am working on an old boys Stingray that I am going to paint a metallic pink with all white hardware. We'll see how it turns out.

Heres one of my beach cruisers. This one started as a stripped frame that my buddy n2billet picked up. He built it from the ground up and had a local artist do the graphic work. It was a awkward to ride until I replaced the seat. The new one had a different set back that gave it a more balanced riding position. Now its my favorite single speed to ride.

YES! I remember you posting this bike before. This is the quality my brother and I are hoping to produce. LOVE this bike.

I have several old cruisers waiting to be worked on, but I had to take a couple hours out of one of these nice days we've had to noodle around with my latest aquisition:
