A bit of a break in progress and my gf and I relocated to Thailand for a few months work so the coffers were empty for a bit. But on with the thread which I should have updated before now...

After deciding on the roofline, with a wave of his magic wand, Wayne cut the cab roof off and fabbed up the framework that ties the top of the windscreen with the rear pod:

Next the cab, doors and bonnet (hood) got sent off to the blaster's. They came back in great shape, with only a few small patches of rust we hadn't been aware of

With the blasted cab reunited with the chassis the new firewall could be fabricated:

You can see how big and how offset the lump is in the cab. Not a huge amount of legroom for the passenger but you have to make some sacrifices in the name of looking cool :D

The bonnet (hood) still wouldn't close fully as the master cylinder was touching it, so that was recessed into the firewall and hey presto - closure.

yeah - it's costing... :eek: but good work is worth all the sacrifices.

my gf and I are working overseas to pay for it. it sucks being away from home (and sometimes apart from each other) for so long. we've been away the best part of 3 years so far, but once the truck is finished it will be completely paid for and that's the biggest overhead of our future business taken care of.

still it'd be nice to have more than the $20 a week from our wages that we allocate to fun things!

I really enjoy following along on these far-out builds and hate when they just drop out of sight. Someone was rebuilding an old bookmobile and doing some interesting stuff to it and it just disappeared a couple of years ago.

Hey guys. Well, the last few years have had their fair share of personal problems, so the build (and updates) took a back seat for a while. Sometimes you have to take a look at what is important in life.

Also for some reason I stopped getting notifications about replies on this thread, so I had missed your requests for updates.

I’ve been a bit more “on it” with progress updates on our instagram page, but I’ll bring this up to date over the next week or so as well. IG: @TheDinerLiner

As an aside- one of the reasons I stopped updating here back in 2014 was that I was working in Thailand and this site blocked access from that country. No idea what that’s about. Also, photobucket seems to have shat the bed in terms of picture links so I’ll try my best to rebuild all of the existing build story with the correct images.

The truck is the coolest, seeing it is awesome but I don't know how I could put it any other way, I would take an axe to my truck to save any of you guys from health issues. I hope your "personal problems" are not health related as other "Personal problems" seem like burnt toast next to health issues.

Brian- kind words, thank you. That means a lot.

Short answer, there have been some physical health issues on my side of the family, bereavement on my girlfriend’s side, all which culminated in depression and more for the pair of us. There’s still a certain stigma around talking about mental health issues, but we all have different strengths and circumstances, and occasionally we can get overwhelmed.
It’s ok to talk.

Very happy to get an update. We all have to put projects on hold from time to time to take care of more important matters. I'm sorry to hear that you had some unhappy times but I'm praying that the bad times are over and it's all up hill from here.

So I just transferred all of the photobucket images over to google photos with a view to updating all the broken image links, but it seems I can’t edit my original post. Is there a way around this that anyone knows of?
