Re: crew cab short bed build " clifford"
The wheels look pretty good too in the most recent pics.... Did you wind up polishing them out or are they 'as-is' from the purchase?

Re: crew cab short bed build " clifford"
I have to leave it now, because of the holes for the bolts. Sure wish i had thought ahead.
The 5.3/4l60e are doing awsome great power and good milage, it has 4.10 gears in it. I wonder if it would help or hurt to go to higher gears? |
Re: crew cab short bed build " clifford"
Higher gears = new carrier

You can find 373 gears in a 4 series carrier, i think they are referred to as thick gears

N2billet was just going through a similar issue w/his truck 'Hazel'. With +31" tall tires, the OD (700r4 in his case) was constantly searching for the correct gear & in/out of lock-up on the converter. He swapped to 4.10's to make things better. My suggestion would be to talk to a tuner or trans guy first. |
Re: crew cab short bed build " clifford"
I haven't posted in a while because all i have been doing is driving the truck. It runs great and is getting pretty good fuel milage too.
I haven't been very happy with the seats so i have been looking for something different. I bought a set out of a 08 cough cough ferd cough:lol: f150, 8 way power heated buckets with center console and the rear seat yesterday for 100 bucks:metal: I cant wait to get them in, i'm not sure if i will have to lower the floor hump or not yet. I will post some pics later. Next thing on the list will be front bags. The front drop springs keep settling and now i a only have about a 1" clearance to the inner fender wells. So as as soon as my 87 sells i will get some bags. |

Re: crew cab short bed build " clifford"
Bumping this thread just incase there may be any more progress. This has me convinced that I will be fine running my 60e when I do my swap. I have an 80e I was going to run, but it would have to go in to the transmission shop to have the tail housing and stuff swapped out. And I am on a time crunch.
Love this build, everything looks great. I may even bite your idea and cut a little bit out of my frame. |
