This seat was already installed when I bought the truck, I really liked the work.

This seat is for a 63 shortbed and it is the last from a bolt of fabric we bought a dozen or so years ago. Going to miss that tweed, always thought it looked right for our period of trucks.

Ken, how do you like the TMI seats? Comfort? Fit in the truck? Quality? I've been eye-balling a set but haven't been able to pull the trigger.

This is the seat in my 62 - I think it is the original cover. I pulled off the heavy plastic cover to find a fairly clean cover with a few stains and some failing stitching. The spots in the picture are just wet areas from cleaning after I removed the cover. Over the winter I'm hoping to have this cover re-sewn.

Quaility is fantastic, very HIGH END fit and finish.

I am 6'1" and 220 pounds, and they are very comfortable.

My truck came with an original bench seat, but I slid around the seat when taking corners.

I opted for the Sport Seats versus the Pro classic seats, as both the seat bolsters, and shoulder bolsters are beefier, and more body conforming.

I ordered a few options, such as red seats with the black inserts & grommets, it added a LOT to the final price.

Black seats are standard, and any color changes are expensive.

I bought my seats, door panels, and console about 2 years ago, prices have exploded in the last year or so.

The door panels are heavy molded fiberglass, covered with matching materials to the seats, and fit like a glove.

The seats recline, and also come with the sliders,

Re: Show us your seats

To bhap, I would recommend a high quality vinyl treatment to the vinyl part of your seat before taking it apart. Any good upholster/ trimmer can restitch your seat, but consider that the vinyl has gotten dry and can crack apart from having folded over on the table as it is getting resewn. By treating the vinyl with a good softener perhaps several times before taking it off the seat, you may be able to preserve your seat for a long time coming. Your seat is well worth the time and effort to preserve it. Original seat covers are few and far between these days. Good luck with it, very nice seat.

Thanks for the reply Ken! I've read nothing but good things about their products and may eventually give them a call.

bhap 11-29-2022 01:25 PM

Thanks Chtr65, can you suggest a product to soften the vinyl? There are a couple of small cracks already and I’d like to prevent more. I have a tan bottle of Meguires rubber and vinyl treatment, but that didn’t seem to help much.

Re: Show us your seats

Meguires makes a respectable vinyl cleaner/ protector, but there are a few things that are playing against you. With the vinyl cleaners/ protectors, you have to be ahead of the drying out period of your vinyl. If your vinyl is already at the point in its life that it is cracking, there is no product that I know of that can make it pliable again. Vinyl has several ingredients in it's make up. Several plasticizers, formaldehyde etc. Once the plasticizers and formaldehyde evaporate out over many years, the vinyl is in a state of decline that might not be able to be reversed. I know we have all seen the commercials for leather rejuvenating products, but leather is different. You have a really nice seat, well worth preserving. I fear that once you take the seat cover off the foam bun, your are in for more damage to the vinyl. Meaning that once someone starts moving and folding it to work it under the sewing machine for restitching, it may have more damage than you are expecting. I would either leave it alone for now, or you could just face the fact that your vinyl needs replaced. You could have a good trimmer replace only the vinyl with a good match. You still have your fabric section, by the way is the hardest part to find and replace.

I finally found a seat that meets my needs. Basically, I need a 3 point seat belt for the middle seat. This is the middle seat out of a Suburban. I can't wait to get started mounting it.

I'm halfway done on mine. This first half was easy, but getting the seat back together is tougher. The PO bought seat covers and carpet to match (dark saddle), but it turns out the covers are for '67-72. I'm still working with the seat back fitment now. It's tight.

It's finally done. Pro tip for the archives. While it IS possible to use '67-72 seat covers on a '60-66 full foam seat frame, and some of the colors, patterns and fabrics may look more attractive to you—DON'T DO IT! Resist the temptation. Getting the back rest cover to fit and look reasonably good is a major pain, and requires a lot of custom fitting and fussing.

HO455 reminded me to post this here.

14-19 truck/suv/suburban/tahoe seats. Full power is achievable by:
DS = Black (ground), Red/yellow stripe (primary power), red/brown stripe (aux power)
PS = Black (ground), red/ brown stripe (primary power).... no secondary power
*brown stripes might actually be black, its hard to tell for me, its a brownish black stripe color*
I removed all other unnecessary wires/air bags/sensors etc.

To get the middle jumper to flip back fully my tank is removed. If you're keeping in cab tank you can move middle seat forward but if you have a high hump you may run into issues.

Any taller than 5'10 you would probably want to modify pedals, other wise you could try a cts seat which is thinner backed. Thinner backed seats would allow more distance between seats and pedals. Even then id be cautious for the comfort of pedal operations.

I removed factory heat strips and installed universals which come in a kit from dorman. Factory heat strips could possibly be wired into an aftermarket thermistor/relay but I didnt mess with it. Rocker switches in the lower shroud as shown. Didnt want any holes in dash etc for those.

I did a video on this swap where I show myself in both seats to help people make a decision. I also show how I made the brackets which I didnt get a lot of regular pics of. They arent for everyone but hopefully this helps people make a decision before hand since the seats a pretty pricey. I paid 600 for all three at a junk yard.

After a long time searching, I finally found the seat I was looking for. Drove 5 hours to get it but I'm more than pleased. A little cleaning and conditioning and I'll install it. It was a good day and a win.

Dad just finished this seat for his '64 plus a second matching cover which he's already sold and will be starting another batch of '64/65 and '66 style covers soon.

I have these I think are from a Durango. They are super comfortable. I just think I want to move the shifter and put the bench back in it. I really like the looks of the bench.

Thanks Palf70Step. They are rear seats from a 2000 Chevrolet C3500 crew cab.
While the cloth versions are more common and can be found in relatively good shape, finding it in leather was tough to say the least. There was another set near Atlanta, GA that appeared to be in just as good or better condition! And MAN, is this seat comfortable....

This is what I went with. I believe this is a deluxe seat. Lots of padding. Had to lower it so I wasn’t looking out the top of the windshield.

Hey Steve is that a USA1Interiors seat in blue houndstooth? Looks nice! I am thinking of their seat in saddle houndstooth...would love to see one.
