Yeah it's amazing that it's in that good of condition! I like the silver strips too.
I think that this wood, which I think is black walnut? might look pretty awesome. I also love the black in this red truck. I think the walnut would have a similar feel with it being so dark. I hope it's alright if I use these guys' trucks for reference. Let me know what yall think! |
Re: Project: 1967 C10 Small Window
I'm not much of a darker wood fan but mine came out a little darker than expected as well and I love it specially at night the silver mettalic strips and cleared wood shines like a wax job ;D

Your truck is turning out really nice!!! I love the color also!...my 2005 GTO is Torrid Red and my 2010 Camaro SS is Victory red....both of these colors are the exact same color as your truck. :metal: |

Re: Project: 1967 C10 Small Window
All about the black, should look good with my flat army green too but with the red it'll really pop!!

Re: Project: 1967 C10 Small Window
Have you looked at the exotic woods? There is a huge array of colors available there
|
Re: Project: 1967 C10 Small Window
I wonder if that black is really wood? It might be some composite or plastic?

Re: Project: 1967 C10 Small Window
I actually think that black business looks bad-a$$. It seems practical too if it is some kind of plastic. I really dig the antiqued wood too tho. Mine will see full time weather from all seasons and that's the most concerning topic for me. I really don't want to pull apart and refinish bedwood to keep it looking ( . )( . ) every few years. I've heard that painted wood holds up the best, but the stained/finished wood looks the best. What to do!!!

Re: Project: 1967 C10 Small Window
Where'd you find that pic of the red truck with the black bedwood? Let's contact that bad-dude and find out what he has in there!

Re: Project: 1967 C10 Small Window
meant to be lighter in my wood color even with natural toner it turned dark for some reason oh well my bed will be entirely red inside next time i paint the truck so I'll have plenty of time to look into more woodworking tricks

Re: Project: 1967 C10 Small Window
Decided to go with red oak!! even though it's very common, it looks good and should go with the red very nicely. We ordered the wood, polished bed strips (visible fasteners), and a bolt kit from Mar-K today!! I've heard nothing but good things about them.

Re: Project: 1967 C10 Small Window
He's back! Right on man, looking forward to this thing finished. Be sure and put up some good pictures when you assemble that bed!
