Here's the original heart that my C/10 Zooey had when she was built. She had 190,000 when I pulled it out. Now that ol' 307 small block sits in the back of the tractor shed waiting to go in a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu. And my Parts truck a 1969 Chevrolet C/20 had a 350 with an oil bath air cleaner it's still on the truck frame out back of my shop I duck taped all the holes and there's a 2 inch locust tree growing up right beside the transmission ( I really need to cut it down and remove the engine someday lol)

How about an ugly (but original) little 283? This is after install of the HEI and a cleanup/repaint on the valve covers when I put new gaskets on them. I have scrubbed the firewall down some since this photo was taken and converted the old oil bath breather to paper element as well.

Here's an L31 Vortec engine I'm rebuilding. Pulled it from a 97 Tahoe at Pick-n-Pull with 130k miles. Aiming for 9.7:1 static compression and .040" quench. Going with an XR276HR roller cam and beehive valve springs with thread-in rocker studs. The head gaskets are back-ordered until late January, so it's just sitting there in my garage waiting patiently.
