Re: Period Camper Tours - show us!
All really nice. Absolutely love the style of the appliances and furnishings. Personally, I'm looking for a travel trailer of a similar period as our trucks or a little before/after. Love that olive (you can't spell olive without love!)

Here's a 67 my buddy just picked up. Camper is rotted badly. I will see if I can get any interior pics before we take it off.

Don't really know if towed travel trailers count for this thread, but I'll crash the party anyway!
Here's my '78 Argosy 6 Meter Minuet [by Airstream], a 20' single axle short camper. Pic 1] Tow rig was my '71 GMC Jimmy. :gmc2: Pic 2] Arizona Snowball Pic 3] Inside: Dinette folds down and becomes queen size bed. |

Not sure my 71 Scotty fits this thread but it is very cool.

One i snapped a shot of nearby. Similar to the white one in post #2. Question... Does this style raise up, or is this the permanant height? http://i1150.photobucket.com/albums/...59543d71d4.jpghttp://i1150.photobucket.com/albums/...f4238e09ab.jpg

Re: Period Camper Tours - show us!
That's a very interesting set-up. It has the top cut off, right?
Here's the ole '71 Custom Camper 20 Cheyenne/Huntsman combo we had for many years, I'm sure you all are familiar with: Edisto Island,SC http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...s/scan0033.jpg Ocrakoke Island ferry ride from Hatteras,NC http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...scan0034-1.jpg This was the north end of Kit Carson National Forest near Chama,NM, I believe http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...scan0030-1.jpg Roadside New Mexico fixin' some breakfast http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...scan0031-1.jpg I think the only view inside is on a video I have on VHS. It had cherry veneer paneling, salmon colored stove, sink, coolerator, original curtains had duck, deer, elk, etc hunters on them (last picture), and the cushion upholstery was kind of a burnt orange burlap type fabric. I had new covers made in a goldish brown similar fabric with saddle vinyl backs (zippers) and the curtains were plaid. I'd describe the plaid but I'm starting to sound like an interior decorator  |

That is a beatiful camper you had, would love something like that for my 71. |
Re: Period Camper Tours - show us!
Dig the "map-table" in post 32, I'd forgotten about those. My neighbor has a 71-72 c30 chassis mount camper I've been thinking about going over and talking to him about. It'd make a great flatbed if the camper is shot was my thought. And probably a factory bigblock

Hi There:
I am a new member from Canada and just wanted to share these pics with you fellow Camper Lovers. This is a 1967 Vanguard 9.5 which was built in Richmond BC. I have never seen any pop ups like this online, but have seen Vanguard over cab with similar stripe package and inside decor. I am sure this was designed to compete with the Alaskan from USA. The Vanguard model is raised with a cable system. I was fortunate enough to find this in the Maritime Provinces not far from home. This unit is in unbelievable condition for the year and needs in most part elbow grease and new curtains which I have done. ( Cushions are original and in new condition ). An $800 steal I think. Hope you enjoy and a Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.. :waah::waah::truck::truck: PS:::Thank you all for your postings and pic of your campers .Sure do love the Retro for both craftsmanship and quality, |

Here are a few pictures of the "Huntsman" that was on my '70 Chevy. I sold it to member "Dieselwrencher" for his 4x4 Longhorn. This has not been restored and the oven had never been used.... It was put on the truck when it was fairly new because the take-off tailgate I got with it was in really good shape. LockDoc |
Re: Period Camper Tours - show us!
Sweet , Sweet, Sweet.. I love it, and I never get tired of looking at these beautiful units. Only wish we could meet the wonderful people that had these units and looked after them like they deserved to be. What interesting stories we would hear.
Many thanks for sharing.:waah: |

I never met the original owners but I talked to their son (who I bought the truck off of) and he told me that they took quite a few trips in it when he was a young man. In later years it was driven 60 miles to the state fair and parked there for a week, driven back home and put back in the shed until next year. LockDoc |

Re: Period Camper Tours - show us!
Welcome PC'ian, really like your camper. Vanguard looks a little like an Alaskan to me - both are great styles.
Leon, that's a very nice camper - thanks for sharing. The wood, everything, looks like it's in incredible condition. |

Re: Period Camper Tours - show us!
I had a boot that fit in the window opening. I never had any water leak problems. Now those jalousie windows, they were another story. They were needing resealed or replaced with something else. I couldn't believe my '71 never had a sliding window. I put one in and removed the fixed window (made a frame to trim it). the Coast to Coast rv catalog also had inflatable rings for that area, as well as another made for between the top and camper to stabilized/cushion. I figure that would help keep a lot of water from forcing into the area between the cab and camper. Never did get one, though.
