If you put a 3/8" spacer wouldn't you need to put some longer wheel studs? Seems like you want to know you've got all the thread you can get. A lot of mass there.

I had them machined down because I'm utilizing a disc brake with the 3" rotor bore. And as an added benefit. I can rotate tires without an issue. Does anyone know if the 68 ball joint taper is smaller than 72? My supposed 72 spindles don't fit the 72 ball joint.

63-70 balljoints are different from 71-72 and 73-87.
The easiest way to determine your spindle "year" is to identify the upper balljoint or outer tie rod.
Take your spindle to your local auto parts store and find out.
I like using the tie rod hole as reference.
The 63-70 outer tie rod is definitely a smaller diameter than the 71-72 and the 73-87 version.
All three are different sizes.

Lolife, I did just that. It appears as the 72 ball joint from parts house has the same taper as my spindle as it's tight and a good fit. I think the taper could just be deeper. If I don't use a washer it all works just fine.

It's time for more updates on this bad boy. Everything is looking good.

Classic parts is here in Riverside MO. It may be worth your drive to pickup new bedsides and any other large parts there to save on shipping.

Guys it runs! I'm missing a radiator hose then I'll have a video for you. All I'm lacking is a driveshaft, uninterrupted steering joints, and power steering lines oh and a few brake lines and she will drive. It may not have fenders, hood, grill or a bed but she can drive.
