I am blessed with an amazing wife and a really great horse...but one shops and the other eats so it is a mixed blessing.

66Submarine,

Are those platforms across the rear fenders home-made or were they once sold somewhere?

They certainly seem to be homemade to me, although whoever did it did a pretty good job of it. As a part of it, they also lined the bed with the same steel treadplate, and even went up over the sides with it; kind of like a slide-in liner. IIRC it's all 12 gauge thickness (maybe 14, but I want to say I remember it being 12), and judging from the deep valley pounded into the bottom of the bed near the tailgate, that thickness wasn't excessive at all!

Here's an old picture that shows them a little better:

63burban, that's a swell tow rig you got there. Is that a torch setup on your right side of the service body bed? Never seen that before on a rig.

The truck was used on a road race course most of it's life. (Blackhawk Farms Raceway, Rockton, Il) What you see is a dry chemical fire extinguisher set up. I use the pressure tank as an air tank for tires now. I also have a small extinguisher that hangs on the drivers side. They used this truck with the boom all the way out so they could carry open wheeled race cars by the roll bar.

Naturally. Might need some air bags or a lift kit though. Camouflage wheels?
