A couple more pics now that I have the center caps on the wheels for the first time.

I will get all the specs together for the air ride and post those in the next week or so. Off the top of my head, I know the front spindles were 2.5" drop and the rear lowering blocks were 2". I believe we have an overall drop of 8" & 10" when the air is out of the bags.

I had that same lino in my '76 motorhome. It looked stunning against the green shag carpet. :lol:

I'm not a big Suburban fan, especially an ambulance one. That is cool!! Good job. Is there more to come?

There are a few more things that I am planning, but nothing as exciting as paint, disc brake conversion & air ride!

It gets new exhaust and a hidden sound system at some point before the weather gets good again.

A quick run to the beach last night was our first official cruise. The truck ran beautifully & the response on the street was fantastic.
The truck drew a crowd & we showed the imports how it's done!

It has been a long time since I have been on the forum, so here is a little update on the Slambulance.
We have had a blast with this truck. Of all the cars / trucks I have ever owned, it certainly has the best "smiles per gallon"!
There have been no issues at all with the air ride or any of the work we did on the build.
This photo is from Goodguys Columbus a couple years ago. it is my favorite that I have seen of the Slambulance.

We took the Slambulance to a new level a couple winters ago and swapped in a 6.0 ltr LS and 6L80E transmission out of a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT.

All work was done at home and it took about 5 months of weekends and evenings, but I am happy with the results. All components, including the G8 GT were supplied by Boris at Street Machinery in Euclid, OH. Boris and his team are an invaluable resource when taking on a project like this.

I am not a mechanic & had never done a swap like this, so I had a bunch of dumb questions & he answered them all without hesitation. They are wonderful to work with!

LS swaps are well documented here, so I won't go through all the details.

We purchased the Billet Specialties adapters so we could use some old school valve covers as coil pack covers. They look great, confuse people all the time and we don't have any issues with packs getting too hot.

I ended up taking off the entire front clip and cleaned, painted and filled some firewall holes. I didn't fill and smooth everything, but cleaned it up real nice and gave everything fresh coats of paint. Frame and suspension parts received a deep cleaning and fresh coat of undercoating.

We have put roughly 4,000 miles on it since the swap and are loving it!

The paint break where the upper trim would be on a pickup is perfect. Ive mentioned it before I think that would look good on a truck cab when you paint the roof different than the body and you don't want to deal with the stainless trim.
