These speaker brackets are very similar to the ones I have sold on here in the past, but I made a couple changes (based off customer feedback), and now offer a limited number without the speaker opening cut out...for those of you who would like to run a different size or perhaps component speakers.

The two changes made were centering the speaker opening, and putting a small radius on the exosed corners for a more "finished" look.

These will fit most 6x9 speakers, however, I found out the hard way they will not accomodate 6x9's with 4" diameter magnets. With that being said, I assume you could make them work with the use of a small spacer or slight modifying and repositioning of the speaker bracket itself. 6x9's with a 3 1/4" magnet fit absolutely perfect with no modifications needed. These are made of heavy 16 ga steel, will be delivered bare steel, so you'll need to paint to match your interior or exterior. Basic self-tapping sheet metal screws will be provided. I decided to use stainless steel button head screws and lock nuts when I mounted these in my '73, felt it matched my interior better.

Please study the below picture carefully to ensure these brackets will fit your truck. I believe some of the early 3-point belt trucks had the retractors mounted where the top of these brackets sit...and therefore will not work.

Price for a set of these will be $63 shipped to your door (lower 48 only). I feel this is very comparable to those carpeted 6x9 boxes...and look 10 times better. This will also cover my initial expense to have these made plus the time I spent getting them to work. I won't be getting rich off these.

To see pictures and read feedback of others who have purchased these from me in the past, please click the link below.

If interested, please reply here and send me a PM. I accept and prefer PAYPAL, but will take money orders or cashiers checks.

12 sets currently available, 9 with openings, 3 without.

I will update the thread with the quanity I have left as sets are sold.

Do you still have a set left with cut outs?

Guys, I have a few sets left (all w/openings). If you want a set, send $63 via PAYPAL to jeffdodge4827@msn.com

That will cover shipping to your door in the lower 48 states. If you live in Canada, the total is $71.

Still have some brackets left. The latest run incorporates one more change, I have added CNC cut pilot holes for the mounting hardware, making these even easier to install.

Any pics of the holes for mounting hardware..Not sure what you mean?

Re: 73-87 cab corner 6X9 speaker brackets - 2nd series

No pics. Just imagine small pilot holes where you will be putting screws thru to install. This makes the instsall easier. Simply hold the bracket in place, mark the spot on the cab where you ill be drilling (by using the pilot holes), then drill the holes in the truck....install brackets.

Re: 73-87 cab corner 6X9 speaker brackets - 2nd series

Great looking brackets. Are you still selling them? Do you have a solution for the seat belt mounts on a '77 C10? or is just a matter a relocating the retractor mechanism? Thanks, Scott

bigblock73 03-27-2010 10:09 AM

Re: 73-87 cab corner 6X9 speaker brackets - 2nd series

Yes, still making them, and still have them for sale. As far as the mid mount retractor belts...I have no solution other than to change them out to the later low mount retractor belts. This would be a good upgrade anyhow, as they really function poorly...I have them in my 77 and can't stand them.

Re: 73-87 cab corner 6X9 speaker brackets - 2nd series

6x9's are a tight fit due to their increased width and magnet diameter/depth/size compared to factory installed 4x10's...but sound soo much better. The brackets are designed to fit them as far back in the cab corner as possible. As you can see, they fit, and allow full range of movement on bench seat trucks, it is even better on bucket seat trucks.

Here's mine, still need to swap out for better speakers and grills. If you have issues with the larger magnets a spacer is readily available, search "6X9 Spacer" on eBay.
