John, the exhaust cutout looks amazing and it's that much closer to being done.

Looks great! Just for my education, do you have a section of flex pipe in the exhaust somewhere? If not, what's to keep the pipe from sliding out of or putting a bind on that beautiful flange on the bedside?

no flex pipe...its very solidly suspended at the hanger by the muffler. engine mounts are almost solid and a poly trans mount, not a lot of movement anywhere really...Do you think I need one..? I may put another hanger on the pipe out by the bedside if it rattles...

I don't know if you need one. I was just curious if you were concerned about flex from engine torque. If you're not concerned, I'm not concerned. :metal:

Re: Owen's C10

I welded in SS braided flex couplings into mine as insurance. When I put up the Flowmaster setup it just seemed way to rigid to me even with the hangers so I could see the weakest link becoming the headers and them cracking to pieces. Didn't want to take the chance so the flex couplings were cheap and easy and not visible. Mind you I have stock engine mounts and quite a bit of torque flex movement with throttle accelerations. There are pics in my build thread. Maybe run the engine and try it out to see how much movement you get? Becomes one of those better sooner than too late things I guess.

IDK either...I've never had trouble before, but anything's possible I guess...

The motor doesn't move at all, and the exhaust can only move a 1/4" until it hits something, like the trans cross member or trailing arm cross member so I have it mounted pretty snug to keep from rattlin'...

I like that look as well, I still have plans to run mine like that but cut on a 45 deg. with these as pipe covers. These are 316 stainless pipe fitters belt buckles that I made and had extras.

still pluggin" away....I made some stands to support the front of the bed and tie it to the frame, and joined them together with some square tube, and on the square tube I welded some tabs and mounted the air tank to that. I mounted the compressors on the frame and wired everything up from the relay to the battery..I also ran all the wiring for the taillights, gas guage, fuel pump, accuair, trans cooler as well, all pulled through the frame.. just waiting on my fuel tank to show up then I can mount the pump and fuel lines.

Today I threw a fender back on to remind me of what it looks like....lol. currently working on the core support getting it ready for paint, hopefully get that painted next weekend. I'm expecting my custom Boyd Welding fuel tank this week then I can start running the fuel lines and mount the pump, and filter/reg. Then with any luck it'll be ready to fire up..!

I also got the alternator and power steering mounted, the brackets are from ICT Billet and look a lot better than the factory set up and are very affordable....
