that's all the ol' girl needs, just a little TLC. What's the interior look like

Re: 1972 K5 CST Highlander Blazer Patina Texas

Blazer still has all the original interior. Front highlander seat covers are a little tired, have new ones on order. Back seat is nice, all paint on inside nice, dash pad etc are good.

Your blazer has almost all the same options as mine. Check out my profile to see what it looks like with the same paint.

Re: 1972 K5 CST Highlander Blazer Patina Texas

Got to mess with blazer just a little this weekend. I am having a little bit of a issue of popping thru the exhaust. It's kinda sparatic. It will not do it idling, but it seems after u drive around a little bit it will pop thru the exhaust sparaticly. So, I have changed the points to petronix, new cap, new rotor, new cool, new spark plugs. Put a rebuilt quadrajet on it, old one looks like someone had rebuilt it a few times. Put new base plate carb gasket on, new vacuum lines on and new rubber caps for lines no used. Still popping. Old
Carb front barrels were black. Going to go ahead and put new spark plug wires on this week and crawl under it and check for exhaust leak. Manifolds seem good, but it sounds like i here a popping noise at mufflers. Put new fuel filter, may put new fuel
Pump on even though I don't think that's it.

What was the easiest way you used to get the tint off? I have 2 layers on my blazer and will be removing it all.

Re: 1972 K5 CST Highlander Blazer Patina Texas

I didn't find a easy way to get tint off. I just plan sucked. I bought a cheap Walmart clothes steamer, heated tint up and it peeled off. Then it left me the glue residue. I tried the window tint glue remover at auto store. Didn't work well. Used goo gone, nothing. So I just used razor blades and 409 and got all the glue off and cleaned. I will try to post some pics of it tomorrow with tint off. It's way cleaner and better.

Second note, put new fuel pump on today and it pretty much almost cleared up my popping issue. I just need to drive it and get it timed in correctly and make some final adjustments. Actually got to drive it around today.

I've used, these on 25 year, old stripes, and decals. Used adhesive remover on the real stubborn spots.

One more,idea

Bodywork primo and waxed? Now you need to pull off that faded, bubbled window tint. The side windows are easy--just get out a single-edge razor blade and scrape them clean. Not so the backlite. The silk-screened defroster grid is way too easy to damage. You might try using the hair dryer trick on it, but this polyester (not vinyl) film is probably too brittle to peel. Here's a technique we learned from a local trim shop.

Start by slitting open a large plastic trash bag into a single large panel--any color is fine. Spray a little water on the outside of the back window glass and use it to temporarily stick the bag to the window. Use your single-edge blade to cut the bag approximately 1 in. smaller than the glass. Add a couple of spoonfuls of household ammonia to your water sprayer and spray it on the tinting film. (The ammonia will stink--do this outdoors with the car doors open.) Use this to stick the bag to the film. If needed, add some more spray between the bag and the film to keep things wet and sticking. In about 20 minutes, the adhesive will have softened, and you should be able to peel off the tint more easily. Don't scrape, not even with your credit card. Remove the remaining adhesive with a very soft cloth and more ammonia or Goo Gone. If you must rub the glass to lift off old adhesive, rub along the length of the heater grid conductors, not across them.

Is that snow I see in the shadows by the shop? Makes me glad I don't live in the warm sunny south. Oh, thats looks much better with the tint gone by the way.

Well it's been slow progress. I found some nice nos mirrors that I need to put on. Hopefully I will be posting some more pics this weekend.

Re: 1972 K5 CST Highlander Blazer Patina Texas

Well I been getting things done that didn't need to be done. I bought another set of factory steel wheels from Kevin and blasted them and painted them. I got another set of tires for a steal of a price, that's the only reason I bought them. But I did find a nice set of supposedly nos sport mirrors that are really nice that don't need to go on this rig but I bought them right so I guess I will put them on and Maddox hooked me up with some original bumper guards that are nice that I need to install. So maybe I can get those installed and get the nicer set of wood grain molding put on and hopefully my seat covers will be done anytime so I can get the new carpet installed.
