Thanks CAL58! I know its kinda silly but I have the article with your truck posted on our "shop fridge" and I tell my buddies..

"See that truck.... The guy that Built it posted a message on my board..... and said I was doing good " And they are amazed. haha. So, as you already know, in the Mid fifties truck world your a celebrity.

Anyway Ive gotten the motor taken down a little more and I have an alternator rebuild kit coming in so I can make that one pretty too. I'll post more pictures soon!

Thank you guys for your support and encouragement!

Well other than goofing around I'm getting a little bit accomplished. I got most of the pulleys and pumps and brackets off of the front of the motor.

Attachment 431329

I have a bad habit of getting impatient and wanting to see what something will look like. So I got a valve cover and tried in on .... I think its gonna look SAWEEET!

Attachment 431330

I also got some rust converter on the inner fender. This will be followed by some self etching primer then a little bondo and filler primer.. I want these babies to be super smooth.

Attachment 431331

All of these were taken with my phone so the quality is horrible!

I appreciate the comments guys, It really makes me want to get out into the shop and do some MORE!

I was going to pull some wires out of the camaro yesterday, but I decided to begin to rebuild the alternator and paint the oil pan instead. I had to get a new oil pan because the old one was damaged a bit in the wreck.

Well, nothing TOO exciting, I got the alternator painted, new parts in, back together and I began to clean off some of the motor.

everything is exiting, because it is one step closer to getting done, way to go.

Thanks nuke1.

And the alternator WORKS by the way!! I took it by autozone and tested to be sure... Thats the first time rebuilding one of those suckers for me.

Very cool! I'm using a TPI Camaro motor. They were rated at 230 hp. I figure if I can manage to get 300 out of it without the smog, I should have more than enough for a cruiser. Do you have anything to tune the TBI with? I ordered the Craig Moates kits for my TPI as my '88 IROC has TPI as well.

I don't have anything to "tune" it with. I am going to upgrade the ignition components with some MSD stuff, and I have considered a chip and a light cam, but thats about it. The smog is definately going to be gone.

I checked that Moates kit out and it looks pretty sweet. With my lack of experience in fine tuning an engine I figured I would just order one a pro has already tuned for my application.

lets see If I can accomplish this analogy:

Pictures of Dave's truck hanging in any shop are like pictures of Arnold schwarzenegger hanging in any gym...

No words, no silly captions... the mere picture is inspirational!!!!

haha

No need to blush... You built an amazing truck that any person on earth would love to own... The best part is you are not the typical guy that thinks he is two rungs up the latter on everyone else... That makes it even better...

Ben keep the pics coming... I am watching this thread everyday... good work!

I know it has been a minute since my last post but I have been busy at work and school.

My friend Shawn came and helped me get 90% of the wires out of the camaro. All I have to get now is the wires going to the fuel pump and the shifter wires.
