I had to worry about associations and easments also, I went and got approval for the largest, (tallest) storage shed that was allowable by city ordinance 10x12 (added the loft and increased the height by and extra 3 foot. Makes a great storage shed/workshop. I store most of the household items that usually get thrown in the shop and misc shop tools that I don't always need. This helps to maximize the space in my garage.

ya...i would love a massive garage but im thinking i can only get a 20x30 because of neighborhood association. i have to stay so many feet from fence and property lines and all off a certain area of my property where there is underground water mains....so i think i am going to be stuck with 20x30 or a 20x28

The only place in my shop that is half way clean. I am still in the process of putting in shelves and trying to organize it better so that I can work in it. Now that I no longer have the 67 I have some time to clean things up in there so that one day I can get another project.

Lippyp, I like that Iowa plate. That "71" is the county designation for the state & its the county that I live in here. Funny how far that plate has traveled over the years.

There have been several people that have said something like this. So when I built my 18 x 28 I shouldnt have bothered? I should have kept my stuff in my old Costco 10 x 20 tent I guess.

mine is a 30 x 40 and i wish i had more.oh and don't mind the ford sign hangin on the wall as i used to work at a ford dealership in sales and when all the ford dealerships changed to the new sign they were going to throw out the old ones so i claimed it, does not really go in my garage. My favorite saying is (i peddeled fords so i could build old chevy's)lol.

I would kill for half the room some of you guys have!!! I have a 12x24 attached i've been building my truck in. It really sucks in the cold months,,,,push it out to work on something and push it back in when i'm done. The warm months aren't so bad.

Even in the small garage, I have managed to shave the body, suicide the doors, replace the rockers and cab corners, convert to a blazer tank, mini tub, build a 4" cowl hood,,,,just the beginning!

It doesn't matter what size garage you have if you want to get things done you will work around it,,,,or over it or crawl under it,,,through it! What ever you need to do.

I would love to have a 30x40 but don't have the room. Realisticly I could probably go 25x30 if I were to build a detached garage, which would be just big enough for one project at a time.

Amazing, I picked it up in a junk shop over here for a couple of pounds! At some point they must have shipped container loads of old US plates over as they seem to turn up all over the place. I guesssome will have come off vehicles that have been imported too, a lot of ex servicemens vehicles end up staying here. I have a feeling my truck came to the UK that way as it came from an area with a lot of USAF bases. I pick them up when I see them cheap as I have an idea to collect one from each state but I prefer em old and battered. I don't know how it works over there, here in the UK plates are specific to the car and stay with it for life generally although they can be transferred at a cost.

Hey, I've got one of these I'm trying to find a window to put it up in my garden to put the truck in but this winters been awful weatherwise, its either been raining, blowing a gale or snowing (like today when its done all three!) Good old Costco.

My shop is 25' x 25'. It is separate from the house and is much nicer then the attached 20' x 20' garage. It was nice to work in, until I started collecting stuff. Here's a picture of one of my work areas.:

I think that no matter how big a space you have you will find some way to fill it up with something. I have a 40x45, a 60x100 with a 30x100 lean to, a 12x60 land-to-sea box, 14x14 shed, a 10x12 shed and an old 40x60 pole barn. I certainly have some space to store things with room left but it is amazing how quickly space gets filled up. It also get's harder and harder to keep the space clean. That's a full time job in itself and as you can see I'm loosing that battle. Here's the 60x100.

Pics of my 20x20. I'd like to have bigger but it was here when we bought the house. I'm not complaining at all. My last house had a 1 car garage. This one has a 2 car garage and a 20x20 and a 12x10 for the non car junk.

Here is my man cave 27`x 28` with 10` ceilings downstairs with a 14`x 28` room upstairs. 100 amp electric service with plumbing for gas line. I hope to have it insulated with osb walls up by this winter so I can have heat. I just got done building it last fall using 90% reclaimed materials. I know it`s barely big enough but I got plenty of room to extended it further back if i ever need more room.
