Looks like post #14; sorry, I'm a bit web challenged!
Now I'm out of town trying to do this on my phone! Maybe I'll give it a try when we get back home this week! Thanks and have a good one! |

You guys out west need to find one of these for your truck. These are what I remember in CA in the '70s

Hey. 1-PU70, see you've been away for awhile; if you're still around, do you know what brand canopy you've got (or had) on this rig? BTW - with that 3:73 rear, this dude must have some serious 'seat-of'the-pants' torque! |

Here’s mine. Nothing fancy. Think it’s off a later model as it doesn’t fit perfect but still looks good in my eyes.

^^^ Nice looking set-up I'd say. Nice and light, too, right? I have an aluminum cap for my '72 I pop on and off with ease. The crank-out windows were clear, so I got tangerine tint to closely match the old plexiglass bubble windows. Those you can see had the white scroll in four corners. I never liked all the fanciness of these back then. I hade a white one made with just the crank-outs once years ago. Cheap!

Wow, isn't this '70 pretty. Another great metallic color ( Dark Gold Poly ) that disappeared for '71 and '72. Yes, the psychedelic era was over. The double tu tone really flows with the shell.

Good question, where are the mirrors? Really doubt they were removed for the photo shoot. Left factory without? Missed the dealer prep? In a box in the bed? We'll never know.

May be a brochure shot. Looks like no rear bumper either.

Here’s one I saved from a local hoarder. Hadn’t moved in 33 years. Had the build sheet in the back of the seat and the jack instructions still in tact. If I kept it the topper wouldn’t have fit the short bed I would have converted it to. That is why I let someone else own it.

Here is mine. It took quite a while to find a camper shell for a short bed. I imagine that if a person were looking to do some camping they probably would’ve purchased a longer bed. So I think the short bed camper shells are kind of rare.
I need to take a photo of this truck with all the lights lit up at night. It looks really neat. The interior is all wood in very good shape I need to take a picture and post that as well. |
Re: 67-72 Trucks with CAPs/TOPPERs Photos
That's really sharp. Takes me back to before dropped trucks with 82" wheels and gumbands

Here is mine, just picked her up from the guy who ordered it in 1969. This top has been on since 71. Had a different one but was damaged during a hunting trip.

Re: 67-72 Trucks with CAPs/TOPPERs Photos
Boy that is sweet! I overlooked this was from the original owner. Wow. I was amazed 20-30 years ago when I'd find an original owner truck. I've said I bet these trucks had more long term (decades) original owners than any other vehicle out there. I still believe that. WOW, 51 years!! I'm 65 and he bought that truck when I was 14 building truck model kits! He sure kept it nice
