Re: Show me your 4x4 Suburbans!
Sorry for the delay but I don't remember off hand. Wheels are 16.5, I'll measure offset and width as close as I can after Thanksgiving.

Re: Show me your 4x4 Suburbans!
I've been looking for a clean 4x4 suburban for a while now if anyone knows of one please let me know, need more room than the truck has for the family.
Great looking rides on here!!! |
Re: Show me your 4x4 Suburbans!
There one in one in the For sale section right now that doesn't look to bad.
|
Re: Show me your 4x4 Suburbans!
I think it looks better than "not bad"; not sure if I'm trying to convince myself to buy it or NOT to buy it.....wishy-washy for sure.

Re: Show me your 4x4 Suburbans!

Re: Show me your 4x4 Suburbans!
Picking up my '72 from the shop today with a fresh Vintage Air Gen IV installation. Was a non-AC burb so had to cut holes, etc. I'll take some pics and post a review in next week or so.

Re: Show me your 4x4 Suburbans!
Did you just do front air or anything in the back. My 69 has stock roof air. Even freshly charged it never worked will. Looks cool but that don't lower the heat!
|
Re: Show me your 4x4 Suburbans!
I just did front A/C. Was raining and 45 degrees driving home yesterday but system blew cold and hot air in my 30 minute drive home. I started a different thread on the main board when the project started so will update it with some pictures and a review after spending some time checking it out this weekend.

Re: Show me your 4x4 Suburbans!
I have an old vintage air system that worked well to it quit. lol I want to upgrade to the gen IV and get rid of the huge box in the engine compartment.

Thanks rjsdad. It's got 6" Tuff Country springs in the front and 3/4 ton springs with some add a leaf in the back. The plan is to do the ORD shackle flip kit and a softer spring in the back. The wheels are factory 16.5's with 37x12.50 Goodyear MT military tires.
You can read a little more history on this truck in my into thread. It started out as a K10 but now it's got all 3/4 ton axles. |
Re: Show me your 67-72 4x4 Suburbans!
I found my new favorite Suburban. I also have a 70. Love the color! The interior is very cool too! Nice job on it!

That is the same tire size and lift I want to get. I lifted mine with a DIY4x shackle flip and B52 kit so its a little over 4 at the moment Any rubbing issues? |
Re: Show me your 67-72 4x4 Suburbans!
Thanks 68SWB. I haven't really pushed it too hard off road since I'm still working out some bugs and making sure I'm not going to break anything but no rubbing on the road. I did do the 1" zero rate on the rear axles to get it centered better in the wheel well to help prevent rubbing. I got the ORD HD front shackles but haven't put them on yet.
I'm assuming that if I had wider wheels or a larger offset that there might be some rubbing but these factory steelies are tucked in pretty tight. |
Re: Show me your 67-72 4x4 Suburbans!
I just want to take a moment to thank everyone for posting up pics and stories about their Suburban 4x4's. This thread has really toke off and expanded far beyond what I had every thought it would. So all I can say it keep posting and telling the stories of your classic!
Thanks everyone! |
