Got a little more work done today. I finished the patch panel on the roof, after some filler and seam sealer it will be good as new. I also got the interior sanded down and ready for primer and then I pulled the last of the dents on the cab. Tomorrow I plan on making a trip to Manes truck parts to get my rockers, cab corner, and rear door pillar.

I found this hood today at the salvage yard only 5 miles from my house! I spent about an hour repairing the rust on the front lip and it only has one tiny dent that needs taken care of. This hood saved me alot of time over the original! Now to find some fenders. Also, I ordered my rockers, cab corner, and rear door pillar from Manes and they should be here Monday. I'll Install those hopefully Tuesday before I head out to Chicago. Here's a few pics of the new hood.

Re: '67 Short Step #2
Nice score on the hood. Looks like it is in decent shape. It's always nice to find OEM parts, even if they require some extra work.
Can't wait to see more progress! Don |

Re: '67 Short Step #2
You know... if my truck still had the inline 6, I would have rebuilt it too. They have plenty of power and are much better on gas than alot of V8's.
I like the fact you are keeping it "stock". So many people yank the 6's out and stuff in 350's. Different is good. My truck stock came with a 6 but I found a 283 to rebuild for it. It came out of a '68 3/4 ton. I bet on the size of the box, it is a back glass of sorts. D |

The box was full of rocker panels, a cab corner, and the rear door pillar piece for the passenger side. |

Today I got around to installing my rocker panels. The fit was actually really good except for one relief cut I had to make on the passenger side. That side took me 1.5 hours including removing the cab corner, but the driver side fit so well it only took me 35 minutes! Tomorrow I should have a couple hours to finish the cab corner and possibly drop off my engine at the machine shop. If not then It will have to wait untill I return from Chicago.

Sometimes I picture what some of you might look like since some of us spend alot of time on here. So I thought I might as well post some pictures of me working on my trucks, plus I've got nothing better to do at the moment. The first pictures are with my first '67 and the last is SKULLface jr. and I mean muggin'.

Re: '67 Short Step #2
What brand stud welder do you have? Do you like it - i.e. review?
I think I saw the box in one of the pictures, but it was hard to see what brand etc. etc. - Nice progress |

Re: '67 Short Step #2
I cut the old ones out a couple of weeks ago(PAGE 3). But I hadn't ordered the new ones yet. So with removing and welding in place the new rocker it probably took about 1.5 hrs total.

It's sure coming together nicely! Won't be long before you have paint on it! Oh, and having Bobbo around is a really big help! Great guy! I'm glad that we have a guy like him around that will help us out when we really need it! He fixed a problem with my tail light wiring yesterday so that my old truck would pass inspection. Electrical gremlins just aren't my strong point, but he's a whiz at it! ...Joe
