 Yeah. Sometimes there is something in a name. I went out for a 6 pack when I was in LA. The place was called "Liquor Box' Say that 5 times fast and you'll get why I laughed at the name.

Re: Hey Tim!

I'm sure all that will happen exactly as stated. Feb 2nd looks a bit rough. Isn't that Groundhog Day? Now there's a true weather reporter right there . Our 7-day shows a warm up next week. I noticed last night before going to bed it was at about 32. That's a warm up already, from the teens we've been having. 36 was the high yesterday. I'm low on firewood, so I didn't feed it. Until I get more I'm saving for another cold snap

Here's the scoop on our "Cyclonic Bomb". Must have been The Weather Channel that came up with that drama. I can't stand to watch that entertainment show. Don't even find it entertaining, I find myself highly annoyed. I guess I'm spoiled by the high quality of factual and realistic reporting given by my local channel news of choice. Not that I listen to the news, just the weather video online. Getting snow now. I'm at the part of Maryland where you see four counties intersect, the only place that happens. All counties west reach from PA to VA. So I'm near where it goes from trace to 1-3". I imagine this snow will be real light and off & on for all the hours predicted

Storm is heading our way. I'm in the 10"-18" area with 50mph gusts. Pretty good chance this time tomorrow I will be dragging the generator out and plugging in. They say we could get more if it shifts west a little. I plow my 150' driveway with a quad. I'm already miserable.

special-K 01-28-2022 01:15 PM

Re: Hey Tim!

Yeah, looks like this will be New England's storm. It's hundreds of miles off the coast here in the Mid-Atlantic. Our very coast should get a decent amount, possibly 18". The land projects eastward heading north. I think Cape Cod gets dark 20 minutes earlier than here, sun rises that much earlier.

I hope all goes well for you. It should be a dry snow, at least. But I know it will be gusty here tomorrow, hopefully that won't make your situation worse. Tho' it would mean drifting for sure

Re: Hey Tim!

Depends on who's forecast you look at here they are calling for anything from 3"-18". Went ahead and got the truck plow ready to roll as well as the bobcat with plow blade. Loaded up the ice melt, shovels & broom not that I plan to use them other than the parents houses. One church that I plow has me coming in early tomorrow since they have a funeral at 11am.

3 inches forecast for my area . Looks like the coast is going to get hammered this time.

Re: Hey Tim!

It started snowing here at daylight yesterday. You could tell we were at the very edge of something big. I'm 100 miles from the ocean (as crow flies) and this storm is hundreds of miles offshore. I bet the surfing with be great with westerly winds hitting that swell . The snow was real fine, almost like a dust. I'd describe it a drizzling snow and it painted everything white, no build up. All afternoon I was west of here in the local city of Frederick, MD. Same thing but I guess even lighter. It didn't totally coat, seemed to mostly be melting on contact, roads were wet. They were probably seriously treated, though. I get all my chores done and head back the Old National Pike rather than the salt sprayed interstate 70 with fools driving same as dry roads... too fast. Mt. Airy didn't seem any different than Frederick, maybe a tad bit more white. The weather map showed we would be just inside the 1-3" zone to the east and to the west a trace. Very accurate, my area was in an arch of the eastern zone. Did a few more chores in town and headed out my road. I started noticing all limbs, everything, was coated in white, much like ice from freezing rain. I mean raspberry bush and all forest foliage was white. Very pretty. Looking toward home the sky was very dense white, like a white fog. As I got closer to home, almost there, I noticed there was a bit more snow. My place was solid white, including my driveway, everything coated including the road. It kept on misting snow till after dark. Can't recall it snowing steady for so many hours with so little accumulation. I'd say it's an honest inch of snow. Snow plow just made a pass

So, Hey Richard! Whatcha get? I guess you're either still plowing or dead to the world. looking forward to getting the scoop (ha ha, get it?)

Hey Rich! How are you making out? I guess it's still falling.

I wanted to call my sister in Maine (Sebago) to check things there. They are still in it I'm sure

34º here today, 40º on Monday. So far it looks like the heavy snow track for next Wednesday has moved South into Northern Missouri. I sure hope they are correct on that.

We got a pretty good pile here Friday nite into saturday morning. I measured just shy of 10" at the house. Plowed all day Saturday. I plow one church that messaged me on Friday evening and said I needed to have the entire area plowed by 10 am Saturday because they had a funeral to do at 11 am. Roughly 300 parking spots and all around 2 large buildings. I got there a few minutes after 7 and was done all I could do by 930 so they were happy. Spent rest of day doing driveways for family and friends. Instead of toting the bobcat around on a trailer like I have for the last 10 years, I bought a retired municipal truck that had a plow already on it that was "work ready" $800 worth of work to the plow and it was finally ready to be used  . I still used the bobcat at the house though. Later Saturday afternoon my grandson came over and wanted to ride the bobcat so we had to make our own little mountain for him to play and slide on. I kept asking if he was cold but you know kids and finally had to make him come in since he was turning blue ;lol; Did not even leave the house yesterday. Back to work today.

There really are hills on the Eastern Shore!!

I bet the heat is better in that pickup, too. I need to pick something up with a plow, just to do local clearing. Make a little money, help a few out. I used to enjoy being out plowing in storms

It's supposed to warm up by Thursday so it can rain

Usually the snow misses Deale, not this winter. We have had three so far, 4", 10" and 3" , the next one looks like rain.

Hey Leon! I know you didn't send this, but we are having two days of rain!. That's right, solid rain for two days beginning with last night and ending Saturday morning. It will be getting cold tomorrow and chances are that we will get sleet toward the end of this. Good old Maryland, can be cold as it has been, staying below freezing for days, then warm up to rain. This has always bugged me. I for one would rather see snow

Ocean influences the weather here . Off the ocean it warms up usually the scenario for a low . But it also keeps the temperature fairly even yes there are some swings but nothing like the mid west can be 15 one day and 70 the next .

It also keeps us cooler longer in the spring

Well, I think you are lucky. There is supposed to be some really yucky weather north of you. I don't know if Mark will see any of it or not but it looks like he might.

All we are getting now is cold. Another 25 below wind chill day. Supposed to be 38º Saturday and 46º next Tuesday. It seems like every decent day we have the wind blows really hard.....

Re: Hey Tim!

Sorry about the cold and windy (I had nothing to do with it). I believe Mark will be in the snow band for sure. No wimpy show. The warm weather and rain about wiped out all the snow, except piles. Streams to rivers are high, standing water, too, and soft ground. Should start firming back up tomorrow. Our little warm up is about to end. I better get that last beer out of the snow pile in the morning, if the pile is still there. Supposed to get up to about 55 tonight. Yes, tonight will be the high temp for the day. The whole warm up. Just before plummeting

It's been a tad nippy, but easing up this week at least. No wind the last couple days. S'posed to get windy today, tho'. That rain today is creeping up the coast again like a lot of storms this winter. Looks like just rain. Nothing here, I don't think.

Getting warm in Iowa, isn't it Leon?
