Spent all day putting it all together. I've got a problem with the hood. Its way out of whack. I think I need new hinges and springs. The rest took awhile but lined up nicely. Ran out of clearcoat before I could shoot the tailgate so that will be done later...Here it is for now...

looking great man glad to see some color on her:metal: :metal:

Re: Project "Tracy Lee" 59 Apache
seeing the car together in the colour you choose makes me see why you used it .
the car looks like it left the showroomfloor that way . a set of steel wheels with moon type hubcaps and whitewhalls would look nice on it now |
Re: Project "Tracy Lee" 59 Apache
Looking Real Good.

Re: Project "Tracy Lee" 59 Apache
Wow Tex, you are a man of your word! The first thing I looked for when I got to work today was an update on your old girl. It looks nice! Congrats, you have been at it non stop and it shows.

Re: Project "Tracy Lee" 59 Apache
I appreciate the kind words yall...
Whatahyaknow-I agree with the steelies and whitewalls. I think it would be cool. I've always been partial to turquoise. That color is the GM Tropical Turquoise from 1958. Jebb- I have been non-stop and it was killing me at work yesterday. I drove 450 miles (im a truckdriver) on 3 hrs sleep:( . Although it came together fast, I don't suggest that everyone go as "gung-ho" as I did with it. There are a couple of places that I didn't have the opportunity to thoroughly fix to my standards. I was in a time crunch with extenuating circumstances... I am overall very pleased with how the truck turned out. This weekend I plan on borrowing a trailer to take her home. There is still much to do before she's totally street-legal and the interior is still a mess. The work that I could not do at home is now complete and I am so happy about that. The updates will not be fast and furious as they once were due to the upcoming holidays and a slight slowdown at work but whenever I make a little progress, I'll be sure y'all are the first to know! Next things to do are: New seats from a late model chevy tahoe or similar New exhaust system (those cherry bombs have got to go) Interior door panels and other accesories from Roddoors.com Bed Wood Kit (either Mar-K or Bruce Horkey) Rubber floor mat The list goes on and on... Thx, James:cool: |
Re: Project "Tracy Lee" 59 Apache
lookin good!
just as a note with using seats from a late model chevy/gmc truck...keep in mind that the late models have a hump. i'm going to be using a 60/40 split bench from a 97 GMC...haven't really had a chance to really look into it, but it *looks* like the outter passenger seat bracket will work on the inner driver seat to make it work for a flat floor (if that makes sense ;oP) diggin it man....i love the 4 holers ;o) |
Re: Project "Tracy Lee" 59 Apache
Great Lookin 4-Holer, love to see them come together, keep up the
good work and GO SOONERS! |

It looks like the bed came from a 63-66 donor, so getting the wood and strips to match with the angle and rear sill holes will be important. This is not the time to be welding up bolt holes to get things to line up. Just be sure your bed kit supplier knows the unique combination of parts used so they can make it fit right the first time. Re: Project "Tracy Lee" 59 Apache
Looks good. Is the front end a one piece front tilt? Are you going to run ext. mirrors? I love those big back windows!
|
Re: Project "Tracy Lee" 59 Apache
Mar-k... I will probably be giving yall a call in a couple of months about the bed wood...
Daniel... its not a tilt front-end. You maybe referring to one of the pics where the bottom rear of the fender sticks out. It hadn't been bolted down yet. I've got 4in peep mirrors with smokey glass I'm putting on the top of the doors. I appreciate the comments guys! Going to load her up for the ride home...I'll post pics later! |
Re: Project "Tracy Lee" 59 Apache
I felt confident that this build would look great in that colour. Well done Tex. Keep the pics coming. You have a fan club.
|
Re: Project "Tracy Lee" 59 Apache
It looks great. You sure have made some progress in a short time. Can I bring mine over for you to finish?
