Re: Billet Radio Plate for cut dash...opinions?

So when you put the DIN sized radio in can you still use the little black cover ring? If not won't the edge of the metal sleeve show? Also my CD player is the type that folds down so that you can insert the CD behind the face plate, will the billet lip interfere with letting the face plate open? I am interested but I would like to see one installed with the radio in it if that is possible. I like the idea for making it possible to have the stock radio back in a hacked dash too.

The black trim ring will fit and the stereo face will lay down as well. I will install a stereo into the next radio plate I get shipped to me, should be Monday or Tuesday.

Anyone in Arizona with a cut dash want to volunteer to let me install a radio plate in their truck so I can take some pictures? Then, when I order a batch of them I'll give you one for just the cost of the material, I'll sand and polish it for free.

We can do it on mine I have to cut my perfect uncut dash first, but I will be the guinea pig.

I did some budgeting and negotiating to help out on the price and was able to lower it $10. The new price for polished is $67 and unfinished is $53.

For the guys that already paid, I will send you a refund check when I ship your part or I can reverse your paypal payment if you prefer.

I'd like to take some pictures next week or weekend so if b&a72 isn't planning on cutting his dash in the near future I'll let you know...

I took some measurements of the heater control cutout last night and it's being modeled in CAD right now. The part will look very similar to the radio plate. For anyone interested in both the radio and heater control part I will give you a package price.

Interested in both pieces pending pics of the heater one, pics with a radio installed, and final pricing for the pair. I think most are waiting to see a radio installed.

No, I thought Deuce was looking to install the stereo in the heater location, but I could have a new part made with the inner hole opened up that would fit around the heater/ A/C controller perfectly and look identical to the radio plate. The only catch is I would need just as much interest in that piece as well for the price to be the same.

I am installing a CD player in the heater control location................so I'm good.

Hoping to get some installed pictures of the radio plate and the heater control bezel this weekend.

I'm also working on the plate to re-install the factory knob stereo into a cut dash and a plate to install 3 gauges into a cut dash....

If the other guys don't pan out, I'll volunteer my truck. It already has a PO modified (ie butchered) dash! Plus I'm a little closer in Gilbert.

how many orders you got so far?

Re: Billet Radio Plate for cut dash...opinions?

I'm interested also. i was going to use a radio delete plate for the same purpose, but found that the radio trim piece hits the rolled edge. I would be interested in 2 also, but I think for one of them I need to figure out how I would want the Vintage Air controls to fit (not your concern, but I would need to look at some controls and brainstorm.) I honestly think you would have really good luck selling them as a set for the radio and heater/ac controls. I understand you will need to get a good number of commitments, but I bet if you hit up a few vendors you could get 50 of each commited before you know it. Think about all o fthe people out there that don't know about this sight and strictly shop from a catalog they receive in the mail. Your first run you could probably sell to us for these costs, but after that the vendors would obviously have to have some mark up, and you would need some profit, so it seems that the costs would be higher later. But for the original run you would at least get started. Does this make any sense?

Thanks for the advice, I'm going to see how well they sell to the board members and then I might venture out. You are right though, the price would definitely go up to cover all my efforts.

I got the heater control bezel and the updated radio plate in the mail today and they look GREAT! Here are some unpolished pics. I can't wait to polish them up and install them this weekend! I also installed a stereo chassis and trim ring in the radio plate so everyone can see that it fits very well...
