Damn. 6 days and you're about to drive the truck. Thanks for making us all feel completely helpless!!!

Nice ride. I've been checking the thread all along hoping you'd be back.

I knocked a lil work out on Saturday.. Bed is mounted, bed floor is raised and running boards are on... Have to make a very small set of wheel tubs in the bed.. Time to button up some loose ends and start to wire and plumb everything... Column will be here tomorrow... Have to order a rad and cooling fan today.. Still lots to do but I'm glad its looking like something..

Do the running boards lay flat on the ground? Did you sink the cab into them any? And any more pictures of your body mounts? I am in that stage of my build now and i want to get mine laying the running boards. I have a bagged frame ready to go. Your truck is amazing! It is exactly what I want!! Awesome job!

Thanks my man.. Running boards are about an inch off the ground. The back of the front fenders are flat on the ground.. The rear can still come down a little from where its at in the pics.. I will get some mount pics next time I have it on the rack.. I hardly have any money in the swap.. Not worth buying the kits they sell if you can weld..

Had a minor set back.. Programmer did not remove the VATS out of my computer so the truck starts runs for two seconds and shuts off.. Sent the computer back this morning.. If it wasn't for this I would be driving the truck by now! I am leaving this afternoon for vacation at Lake Hartwell GA then straight to Indy Goodguys.. Hopefully when I get back it will be ready to rock and roll! Stay tuned..

That sucks about the computer. Is lake hartwell as far south as your going? If you head thru Ball Ground let me know. I'm about an hour due north of Atlanta on I-575 just 10 minutes south of Jasper. Have a great time.

Well I am back from GA... I do not know how you contain yourself living down there.. Every other yard had clean classic tin laying in it.. Spotted so may C10s that I could have filled two car haulers.. Prices on CL are cheap!! man I hate living in the rust belt!!! Plus it was 60 deg and raining when I got home!! Thanks for the invite! Sorry I did not make it there to see you..

Can you post some pictures of the work you did on the bed? Like how you went about raising it.

Maybe next time.

It is hard to pass them up. I wish I had more property and money I'd buy them all. :metal: I had to stop searching CL because I'd see so many I want. ;)

UPDATES!!!! Computers back and the truck runs!! :metal: I made a set of "tubs" where I had to cut the bed.. I used the pieces I cut out of the bed so the finish matched. Now its time to start knocking all of the loose ends off of the list.. I finished the brake lines the other night, just need to bleed the brakes now. I have to fab some shock mounts for the front, measure and buy rear shocks and install. I bought a complete wiring harness from EZ wiring that I need to layout and install so the little things like headlights, turn signals and brake lights work. Finish plumbing the air ride, a little sheet metal work here and there and the list goes on.. Getting close now!!!

Re: Project "Poison Ivy" 54 GMC

Its funny how I've never seen tubs done this way, they look great. Blend right in, practically factory looking and doesn't waste material. I've been thinking about a mini tub and figured '65 fleet side wheel wells as the best option, or you jump to use new materials, that's why I'm addicted to this site, great ingenuity.

Been a little while since I updated this.. I have been hammering away on the truck.. I removed the old wiring harness and installed a 12 circuit from EZ Wire that is just about finished... I installed the radiator and electric fan, cut the top of the rad support and fabbed up a few pieces around the rad cap.. I also modified the stock taillight brackets and installed the 34 Ford taillights.. I know they are on upside down but thats the way I like them!
